    6.5X284

Re: 6.5X284 Single loading them isnt a huge problem because I am currently shooting Berger VLD'S and they are long enough they do not feed well in a mag any ways. I wish I knew that before I bought the $300 mag conversion. haha

    6.5X284

Re: 6.5X284 Thanks for the help! Pardon my ignorance but can I use my current action and convert it or do I need to get a new action? I am looking at doing it for long range hunting. I originally went with the .308 and it I have a very accurate load, sub moa out to 1000, but the more I shoot...

    6.5X284

I currently shoot a Remington 700 PSS. I have been seeing more about more mention about the 6.5X284 recently for a long range hunting rifle. Any thoughts about switching? What are the pros and cons? How do they compare ballistically?

Re: Wyoming Elk Hunt, 178AMAX or something else It is a great bullet for elk. I personally shoot elk with a Burger vld but the AMAX is a solid performer on elk.

Re: An Alaska Caribou What part of Alaska? I hunted the haul road a few years back with a rifle, outside of the 5 mile corridor, that sucked but it was a blast. We are hoping to make it back up next year but we haven't decided where to go yet.

Caliber Choices - Comparison and Applications

Re: Caliber Choices - Comparison and Applications I do all my elk hunting with a .308. I went last year with a guy who had a .325 short mag and I have to say I was glad I had my rifle and not his. I do not know what loads he was shooting but he put three rounds in the boiler room before that...

Caliber Choices - Comparison and Applications

Re: Caliber Choices - Comparison and Applications I built a .308 on a 700 action last year and have been very happy with the results. I built it for hunting out to 1000 yds. Although the .308 is not necessarily the best 1000 yd hunter, after many hours of working up a load, it will certainly...

    Range Finder

I am looking to purchase a range finder for hunting. I need one that will consistently peg animals out to 1000 yds. I was looking at the Leica 1600 but it is a bit out of my price range. Any cheaper alternatives that will do the job?
