    AR handguard

    Don’t use a handguard for a precision rifle. You don’t want any unnecessary forces on your barrel or receiver. Just an oven mitt and you’re good to go.

    It’s all about perspective and intended use. I got my XTRIII yesterday. Turrets are crisp, parallax is not stiff, the mag ring is stiff but adding a throw lever should help that issue. The reticle is thin but it’s almost identical to the thickness of the LRTS it’s replacing which I’ve been...

    I’ll find out when it gets here tomorrow but it has the SCR Mil in it which is supposed to be thicker than the SCR2.

    Saw what appears to be a great price on a non-illum XTRIII 3-18. Thinking about using this on a hunting rig but a little concerned the reticle may be too thin at low mag during low light. It’s the SCR Mil reticle Anyone with experience able to provide some perspective?

    Windex for AR cleaning ?

    Pfft. Amateurs. Gasoline. Set a timer and let your parts soak for 5 mins. Pull them out of the gas and lay on a towel but don’t wipe them down yet. Next, get a match and light them on fire. Once you smell rubber just blow them out. Lube up with used motor oil and you’re in business.

    I’ve got a YT Decoy so it’s the EP8 and Shimano XT. I do like SRAM better than Shimano but it’s fine. The Decoys didn’t offer a SRAM option but the specs for price was a no brainer for me.

    The heat here has been oppressive. We’ve had some nice days here and there so I’ve been trying to take advantage whenever possible. Not gonna lie, you can call it cheating if you want but the e-bike has been a game changer. I can’t imagine going back.

    For me, the thermal sits too low on the rifle so it needs a riser. However, I’ve got my pvs14 on as well so I need them higher. That may not be an issue for your setup
