    The 308 AI mags can be modified to feed WSM rounds by opening up the feed lips on a 308 AICS mag for the fatter cartridge body. I ended up getting a pair of sheet metal bending pliers to keep the lips straight. You can also buy WSM ready mags from Alpha mags.

    The file only went into the case itself. The remainder of the file body was taped to prevent contact with anything else. The chamber was not touched.

    My 260 deer rifle is a virtual copy of your rifle RHutch with the exception of using an FN PBR-XP action. I run pretty much the same load through a 22" Bartlein and get 2740 fps with the 140 Amax. Like a lightning bolt on deer, antelope, and coyotes.

    I recently found myself in exactly your position and went with the AX becuase it was available immediately. When the ATs do begin shipping, there is a long line to get your hands on one. Dont regret it one bit. The AX is an absolutely amazing rifle.
