i've been running a 338 BR which is based on the 6mmBR Norma cases with 338 bullets and the 6.5X47 in my 1st Gen rifle and have done conversions for a lot of others who are also running them. No one has had any problems with feeding that I know of. I haven't been trying to see how fast I can...

A rifle is a rifle. The bullpups don't jump any more or less than other types. With the straight line stock i think its comparable to any other rifle with a straight line stock. I've had no issues with spotting shots and keeping things lined up. Short or long makes no difference. More...

I've started running my monopod like that for some cals. My 33XC bent the extension rod when the foot stuck. I let the rifle free recoil a bit and it did a job on the thing. I thread out the body about halfway if I have to get some height and can't keep my off hand around the pod. It was a pain...

Brakes, cans or bare, all of the above. I have a can for all my barrels and normally shoot with it on. I don't use brakes. I'll run with nothing before blowing all the crap off the benches next to me. I like to be a good neighbor and in the field it doesn't matter that much. If you shoot much...

I know a number of guys running covert 338LM rifles with 18" barrels. A couple of them in Texas are shooting coyotes at 1000yds successfully. The others are out east here and don't normally shoot that far. Seems to work fine. As far as covert vs standard length chassis goes, in a covert you can...

Its not really a big problem. Buy a new gen 2 extension and swap them. Frank

The new 33XC & 37XC cartridges designed by David Tubb

The Desert Tech rifles work great too and give the option of making barrels in other cals with no non portable tools needed for barrel changes....just a seekonk torque driver. My DT SRS in 33XC works very well and will extract and eject fired and unfired rounds. No need to pull the bolt. I think...

Movie Theater Jack Ryan season 2

If you read the books than you'll find the show has nothing in common but the names. What a shame. Clancy's books were so good and pretty much everything but Red October was screwed over so bad I'd guess Clancy is spinning in his grave. The show sucked. Frank

I'd be less worried about twist rates than about quality bullets. If you run a faster than normal twist rate you won't kill your accuracy unless you use crappy bullets. Many in the ELR game are going to much faster twist rates than normal. The biggest problem with running the faster twist is...

Sad news. PAC-NOR factory fire in Oregon

My blank showed up yesterday. I got an email saying it would be shipping the day before. I was a little worried I might never see it. Glad they got it shipped. Sorry to hear about the fire. I've been using their blanks for customer barrels for years and they've always been outstanding. They were...

I've been shooting 338 Lapua since I got the rifle in 2010. I've worn out one barrel already. I'm now running one I built from a Lothar Walther blank at 30". I've not fired any factory stuff so no info there. I've been reloading for many years though. I would suggest you start with some basic...

    HELP Wanted. 1937 Nazi Luger

There are a number of Luger bulletin boards out there where you can find some help. Have a look at them. Simpsons is good too but having an interested party give you a rundown on something they may want to buy isn't always the best way to do things. Mauser made most all of the Luger pistols...

I have a customer who tried the 168 FGMM ammo in his covert and had difficulty getting it under an inch. We loaded up some 175gr matchkings in the fired Federal brass and the rifle shot about a half inch consistently. The covert barrels don't always seem to like the Federal and I'm not sure...

    37XC build

Having watched him at the ELR shoot at Camp atterbury I can see a bit why. He's not a friendly guy, he bitches about everything, doesn't want to talk to us peons who support him by buying his stuff and is generally a bit of an ass. I don't really know him myself but that was my impression. I...

    37XC build

I've never heard of ADG so I'll look into that. I've got a customer who has been in the market for something like the 33XC but is not a fan of David Tubb. We're looking for something that won't put money in tubbs pocket for him. Frank

That does seem really small. The numbers I quoted were from the drawings DT used to supply to anyone who asked. My experience has been that if you go too small it makes it difficult to fit anything larger. As with all things, your mileage may vary. Frank

The original spec on the barrel diameter for the clamped area is 1.250 + 0, -.001". It is possible to spread the receiver open a little but its not good to stress the receiver that way. I too have had issues fitting barrels that have been painted with any kind of paint on the clamped area...

    37XC build

Screw the brakes....run a can. I run a can on all my rifles and after you start its tough to run anything else. Recoil is reduced and you don't have neighbors with funny hairdos bitching at you for knocking stuff off their shooting benches. I can't imagine running a 338 with a 5/8" thread...

I just take the barrel out too. Why wouldn't you? It keeps any crap from getting in and gumming things up and since the guns rezero about perfectly there isn't any real reason not to. What the hell are recoil spacers? Frank

Centerfire can on a rim fire

As with all things you can do as you wish, they're your toys. If you ask for advice from folks who know.....or at least think they know than you'll get stuff that may not agree with what you want. As always your mileage may vary. Frank
