Back-up iron sights w/o QD scope rings

For rifles with back-up iron sights, is it mandatory that the scope have quick-detach rings or mount? Otherwise, is everyone always carrying a toolkit or wrench with them?

.22LR lever action recommendations

I am starting to like the idea of a 22LR lever action rifle. The ideal rifle in my mind would be a 10/22 but with lever action. The Browning BL-22 looks nice and is fairly pricey. I see Henry Repeating Arms offers a few, but I don't have any experience with their products. What do you guys...

Remington 700 civilian vs. military cocking piece

I have noticed that the cocking piece on M40A3 and A5 is all black. From what I've learned, Quantico receives the Remington action in a 'blank' form. The end of the cocking piece on a civilian Rem 700 has a machined finish on all the rifles I've seen. Does somebody know if the USMC rifles are...
