Gunsmithing Barrel nut setup on FN/Win Mod 70 ????

You are right, after further investigation it would have to be timed first which basically defeats the purpose i guess.

Its probably because it is short barrel ones, decent price for it but you can find better. These are absolutely badass rifles, for sure. They shoot extremely well but the brakes are not the best, you can put a better brake on and cut recoil considerably.

Gunsmithing Need a competent gunsmith that can finish a rebarrel on a POF 223

I would love to see the video of that barrel being cut like that! That would be some crazy cuts and setups, even CNC would be difficult i bet.

Gunsmithing Need a competent gunsmith that can finish a rebarrel on a POF 223

Are you saying they machine the locking lugs into the barrel blank itself? Like just so I am sure what your saying, you machine the barrel itself to take the place of the extension? I will call bullshit on this one, im not saying there has never been an idiot to try this but im not even sure...

Gunsmithing Barrel nut setup on FN/Win Mod 70 ????

Not sure what the originals were but the Fn SPR threads are 1.000 X 16 as best as I can tell. I am wanting to try something so I was wondering if the barrel nut deal would work. I have to remove barrel again but i don't remember seeing a cut out for the extractor. seems like the breechface was...

Gunsmithing Barrel nut setup on FN/Win Mod 70 ????

Has anyone tried a barrel nut set-up on an FN/ Mod 70 ? Any reason why it wouldn't work? I know alot have tried this with Remmy's with great success so I was curious if it had been tried with FN/Mod 70.

Gunsmithing Setting up AR barrel in lathe......

I made a set of barrel extensions I put on short barrels to be able to always reach the back spider of the headstock. Gunsmithing Pistol frame and slide hardness

I thought that was what you were saying just wanted to make sure. The frame should be harder than the slide, as the slide wears over time it can be tightened but if it is fit correctly they should never really make hard contact enough to wear.

Gunsmithing Pistol frame and slide hardness

If you are speaking of a 1911/2011 the slide and frame should not be riding on each other at any time, they should ride on the layer of oil that is in the clearances that are built in when these 2 parts are properly fit up. Also for what it is worth the Caspian slides are best your going to...

Gunsmithing A question on supply and demand

The shooting industry as a whole has always been like this it seems. Even with the advent of CNC machining centers and the incredible advancements to the manufacturing industry it seems the industry is still stuck in the past as far as overall production. The excuses are always the same also...

    Gunsmithing First Muzle brake.

Well I have never seen any bullet that was oversized especially after it was forced down a barrel that was the perfect size, so I dont believe i would ever have that problem. Clearance that is put into brakes is to ensure that when they are bought out of midway and screwed on to just about any...

    Gunsmithing First Muzle brake.

Notice I didnt say this was the right way to do it but I would like you to tell me what is unsafe about it? I know it is not the proper or correct way to do threads on a muzzle but I don't understand the unsafe part. Save your smartass B.S. for someone else and if you know your shit answer the...

Gunsmithing When the bore absolutely, positively has to be copper free...

You are correct about benchrest shooters but it is a whole different animal, those guys are looking for consistency from relay to relay and the only way to do this is to go all the way clean. Your top guys will buy multiple barrels of there choice install them on rifle and shoot a number of...

    Gunsmithing First Muzle brake.

.020 is optimal? Where did you come up with that? I would disagree with that as the less room around the bullet is the more efficient the brake will work. It has to be done right though and alignment is critical.
