629-4, That’s just the way it came. I’m guessing the wife’s is a newer generation at one? Hers has a thinner more squared off forend with the interchangeable parts and mine is much wider and a little heavier. Hers was also bought aftermarket. Originally it is a Mark II BRJ. Mine came this way...
His and her's Savage Mark II in Boyds At One stock. (Bet your ass mine’s the pink. Nahhh mine’s the green. I thought about it though.) Group was shot with mine but the wife’s shot a very similar group as well. We took them out to 200 yards with an 8” plate and had too much success. Gotta get a...
Very nice! I just picked up a Savage Mark II. It’s basically a TRR-SR barreled action in a Boyd’s At One stock. SWFA 20x42 on top. I’ll be taking it out to 200 this weekend.
I’ve had my .308 RPR since 2016. It now has over 4200 rounds on it and will still shoot dimes at 100. Exceptional out to 1000 with 190 SMK on 42.5 gr varget. It shot a .177” 5 round group at 100 with Nosler custom competition 168 gr. I’ve thought of switching to 6.5 but with the longest ranges...
I use a Harris bipod with pod talons (which I don’t think are made anymore). I use a couple scum bags in the back. They’re very adjustable yet steady when you want them to keep still. I have one filled more than the other so I can switch out based on how I have my bipod adjusted up front.
I’m sorry, I gotta ask. I’m about 90 minutes outside NYC, so I know my seasons f’ed. How are you guys able to shoot so much during the outbreak? Just out of curiosity
Interesting. I tried the same factory ammo in my RPR .308 years back when I first bought it. It didn’t end up liking it but I had no extraction issues. Have you tried other ammo? Nosler custom competition worked very well. The brass has a thinner wall. Doesn’t exactly fix the problem but may...
Our 20” barrel with 1:10 twist is suited for a heavier bullet. I’m using 42.5 gr varget with the 190 SMK. It seems to be around 2500 fps. It’ll stay sub moa out to 700 and then opens to about moa at 1000. Although I have shot sub moa and even one 1/2 moa group at 1000 on perfect days. I’m sure...
I saw a guy on YouTube a long time ago who shot a .223 at a mile with a 30” barrel. I don’t recall what bullets he was using. I’d be very happy to get it to 1000. As for now I’m using 190 SMK out of my 20” RPR .308 and they get there fairly easily. But I’m showing 38 Mils to get my load to 1760...
I agree. If you don’t reload and you go with what’s most commonly available, the 140 grain, I’d stick with the 1:8. That will give you the best of both worlds since you could go a bit lighter if you wanted to.
