    308 AR10 Build Info/Picture Thread

Can anyone speak to 16 vs 18 vs 20 for a 308? I am torn on which way to go, Was thinking 20 but then if I build another 6.5 upper with a 22 or something like that I might as well go shorter for the 308. So then maybe 18 or 16, I have heard 18 is needed to burn all the powder?

    308 AR10 Build Info/Picture Thread

Thanks, I will be going with an adjustable gas block, no can for now but would like one. I have been eyeing the Odin works adjustable buffer but maybe I should just go with a basic 308 carbine buffer and see how that goes. I would like to use a 6.5 upper and a 308 upper on the same lower if I...

What kind of buffer would be best for the widest variety of ammo?

    Large frame question

Im not talking about taking the upper apart. I am talking about having 2 complete uppers that can be swapped onto the same lower. Couldn't be any easier.

    Large frame question

I was thinking shooting 120-130s mostly as well. Maybe try some 140s. I shoot 155s mainly with 308.

Sweet. Do you get lots of predators? Which optic do you prefer for that purpose?

    Large frame question

If one was to build a .308 AR10 would a barrel change be all that was needed to move to 6.5 Creed? Bolts, buffers, etc all interchangeable? Assuming you might need to do a little fine tuning but over all they are compatitable? What other considerations should be made, for instance if one wanted...

I have heard sometimes it looks a little worse than it is with Tikkas but I am not sure. Need to go shoot something loaded close to factory power with those primers and see how it looks. When I get half a grain past the charge in the first pic primers get flat and the flow is pronounced enough...

Too hot or ok? Finger nail doesn't catch on the spot where the firing pin hits.

N140 or Varget, you dont need anything else unless you want a ball powder for a thrower. I throw Varget ok and trickle up.

What pics are you referring to? Am I missing a new anti scam procedure?

I have not but remember hearing it has very long kernals, worse than Varget and also that it used to be the M118LR powder with the 175 SMK.

I would also add, if you aren't familiar with Vihtavouri in general, its really good stuff and now cheaper than Alliant and Hodgdon. Used to be the other way around.

What velocity? I use 85.5s, have been using Varget but have a pound of 150 sitting around.

N140 is good stuff, pretty close to Varget but not exactly the same. I have a pound of 540 but havent used it yet. I use single base powders whenever possible. The barrel gets a lot hotter with double base and competitive shooters that go through a lot of barrels have mentioned 540 as a barrel...

    Rascal FV-SR Custom Barrel?

Probably cheaper and easier to buy another FVSR in whatever caliber you want.
