Ammo suggestions for M1A scout.
Buy as many variations of 308 ammo you can reliably find, go to range and shoot groups of each. Pick the one you find acceptable and can reliably buy. Stock up on that.- jLorenzo

Federal Gold Medal Match? Not so sure now
If that is indeed primer compound I am not sure how or why you defend inconsistent amounts of it in a primer labeled and marketed as match grade. I am going to shoot them, if they shoot well good, if not, no more for me.- jLorenzo

Federal Gold Medal Match? Not so sure now
This doesn't look like match grade consistency to me. First go around with these FGMM AR small rifle primers, I have been using CCI 41s and like them, they all look the same inside. Anyone know what I am looking at here? Well see how they shoot with a known load tomorrow.- jLorenzo

Agreed. Big difference between factory loaded 55gr cannelured FMJ and something like a 55gr Berger hand loaded for the gun. Factory ammo no matter the grain weight is always a crap shoot, each guns barrel is different and will like particular bullets/loads more than others.- jLorenzo

xm193 out of a factory barrel, no matter what the twist will never impress. You'll soon realize you want to try 75-80gr stuff for shooting more than a couple hundred yards and then you will be limited by the 1/9 twist. The only reason I would buy a 223 with a slow twist is if I was going to...- jLorenzo

For the love of god don't buy a 1/9 twist 223 bolt gun. 1/8 and 1/7 will both shoot lighter bullets fine, some of the best groups I have shot with one particular 1/7 barrel were with 50gr hollow points. 1/8 and 1/7 will allow you to shoot stuff up to 85 grain and still shoot the lighter stuff...- jLorenzo

308 Muzzle Velocity with 175gr
Some of these loads for the 175 seem pretty hot, I would be careful and work up for sure. I have never shot 44.6gr of Varget under a 175 in a bolt gun, let alone a gas gun.- jLorenzo

Anyone work with BLC2 in 147-155gr range? I bought some during the 2020 dry up just to have some extra powder. Only time I've used it so far was loading some 222 for a friend. Shot tight in his gun. Tac has been working well for me with the 150 Hornady FMJ, for a cheap blaster load. 10 rounds...- jLorenzo
