Brass Cleaning and Annealing for SH Members!

Sorry to hear about your health issues; I have some coming up in the distant future, hopefully, way distant. Getting old ain't for sissies, they say. If the following isn't in bad taste, I'd like to offer my services. I'm having to retire early, and one thing I've done is start a company that...

Advanced Marksmanship The Measure of a Man and His Rifle

You're a braver man than I, shooting groups with mixed brass

Advanced Marksmanship The Measure of a Man and His Rifle

Gotta confess- had to think about that for a minute- thought maybe the OP dropped a zero or two (nope) ;)

Variety is the spice of life or one rifle to rule them all?

I ran a couple of factory Savage 12s; one .223, the other I can't remember for the life of me- maybe a .308? Dunno. Anyway, they were both right handed, and found that I could no longer shoot right handed (eye trouble), so away they went. Adopted two R700LHs, one .223, one .338WM (Sporter). Both...

Variety is the spice of life or one rifle to rule them all?

Pity. My wife says "Hey, just get it, you already got the dies for it". She also want to know when I'll have her match .308 ready. Also, funny story- our club has two rifle ranges- south range is 100/200, while the east range is 200/300/385/500. I do my ammo testing on the 100/200. One day, as...

    30-06 still relevant?

You don't suppose those improvements in powder and bullet design would benefit the .30-06 as much, or even more, than the .308, do you?

Sidearms & Scatterguns Bought a Beretta 92FS - Bloody thing has a 1000 pound trigger!!

Neither do the Brazilian Army versions- SA with the option to DA a misfire. Carry mine cocked & locked; hard to fuck up a SA (although Kimber figured it out ;) )

    Fairly new reloader

Despite other additions to the loading room, I'm still running all my match quality stuff through a Lee single stage. I've wondered running them on a turret, but I don't think my bench is solid enough; it doesn't take much to raise havoc with a programmable dispenser. Edit to add: Spending...

    Bipods

Having worked 9 excruciating years at a mil/aero contractor, @THEIS is absolutely correct; one of the reasons I don't fly- I know what they're made of, and how. [shudder] Look to see what the guy who buys his own gear, and wins consistently, uses. If you can't afford that, at least get the best...

    30-06 still relevant?

Forgive me if I already posted this- Savage 110 .30-06 Spr 29" Bartlein bull, 1:10"- "people keep asking if .30-06 is still relevant; yeah, I'm thinking it's still relevant" (John Wick, I think)

Inability to shoot well with magnums

OK, let me ask a dumb question- when I read the post, I took it to essentially say that NFs have zeros that drift, not that they had zero drift. Which way is the correct interpretation that generated the outrage? Inquiring minds want to know.

I bought my first real barrel. Is it supposed to do this? Throat/freebore question.

and THIS is why I tell my gunsmith what I want to do with the rifle, ask him what I should buy (dies & such) and then leave him the hell alone while he works his magic. Shooter's job is to hit the target, Gunsmith's job is to make it easy. Of course, I'm an old fart, so.......... maybe I learned...

Custom rifles more accurate than Factory?

I have never had a factory shoot anywhere as well as my customs. By the same token, I've never spent $1500+ on a factory rifle in a chassis, so I can't speak directly to that. But, the formula is pretty simple- Accuracy=cubic money

Eyesight Failing - How to continue shooting?

I had cataract surgery about 5 years ago (62 now). Had the implants specified to focus at infinity, which meant I'd have to wear reading glasses for up close. Easy surgery, it patient, might take care of the other issues. One caveat- after cataract surgery, if you see a lot of "floaters" or...
