The triangular coachwood fore ends always looked the nicest. They weren't as durable as the later laminated oval shaped ones or the black plastic ones, but certainly looked good. My first was probably Motorhead at Mainstreet, a smallish venue in Auckland's Queen Street about 1984. They were originally going to play a bigger venue further from the central city but it was moved. Suited me perfectly as I could walk to the harbour ferry and ten minutes walk to the venue...- Sniff

Is the .17HMR really much better than .22LR for varmints?
Not quite. But the railway crossing in the centre left was used in the opening scene of 2005 movie The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. It's a nice little spot about 40km north of Auckland. I have access to 1800 acres. I need to get up there more often than I do.- Sniff

Is the .17HMR really much better than .22LR for varmints?
I love mine. Marlin 917 with a Leupold 4.5-14 scope and a Gunworks suppressor made for 17 HMR. If I'm closer to houses, stock or horses, I'll use a suppressed .22 to be extra quiet.- Sniff

Ruger Single Six .22LR. Made in 1972 so no transfer bar. Four clicks as you pull the hammer back. My pair of Ruger Vaquero .357 Mags. I picked the first one up at an Antique Arms Association gun show in Auckland and the second at the same show the next year. They were from a deceased estate...- Sniff

Television And Movie Guns
I owned this rifle when the movie was made. Well the barreled action at least. It was a Rem 700 VS in .308 mounted in a AI stock with a new square shaped shroud to make it look more like an AI. I swapped the rifle for a McMillan A3 stock. Another of my rifles, my TBA M40A1 is in the movie...- Sniff

It sounds like you were too drunk to remember what was going on. Not surprising at 0.2. I've been a cop for 27 years and spent a significant amount of time on Traffic Alcohol Groups dealing with drunk drivers. Now I'm in a different country with different laws and differnt drink driving...- Sniff

I live in a city built on a field of 53 volcanos, ranging from about 190 000 to 550 years old. I could see five cones from the window behind me if I looked outside (and it wasn't dark right now.) We get a new one every few thousand years. But the next one could be next week, or another 25 000...- Sniff

MAE is out of business. Keep an eye on Trademe for second hand suppressors. DPT rimfire ones are great. I use an ultrasonic cleaner to clean my steel but be aware that DPT don't recommend ultrasonic to clean their aluminum cans. Something to do with the anodising.- Sniff
