Watch Out for Scammers!
We've now added a color code for all accounts. Orange accounts are new members, Blue are full members, and Green are Supporters. If you get a message about a sale from an orange account, make sure you pay attention before sending any money!
Follow up: About 100 rounds in with the new bolt assembly SIG sold me, I again started to get failures to eject (groan). Same symptoms: A lot of brass shavings in the ejector hole which eventually ties it up to the point where it is stuck. Again there were divots on the (virgin Lake City)...
Larue now offers the 'VFZ' option (in lieu of the quick detach levers) which saves you $50. The one I have has performed as advertised so far, and there is less 'stuff' hanging off the side of the rifle than there would be with the quick-detach levers.
While waiting for the new bolt to arrive, I tried polishing up the ejector hole with some emery cloth wrapped around a drill bit. The ejector itself went in smoothly, but the spring remains very tight in the hole, which makes me wonder whether this issue was caused by an oversized spring. The...
Update: I called back and got hold of the customer service supervisor. He agreed to 'sell' me a new bolt with ejector. When I return the original bolt to SIG, he will refund my $$. Definitely a big improvement on the original 'you have to send the entire rifle back for us to do anything'...
OK, perhaps 'catastrophic ejection failures' was the wrong terminology; what I meant was ejection failures which mean that any follow up shot(s) required are going to be a long time coming since the mag has to be stripped out, the bolt locked back and then the empty case removed from the bolt...
I have had excellent results with the LWRC REPR, the Larue OBR as well as the POF. I was initially happy with the SIG 716 until the ejector system locked up. That, combined with SIG's (lack of) 'customer service,' means I cannot recommend it to anyone for anything other than as a toy...
I started having catastrophic ejection failures (the fired case still on the bolt face with the next round partially fed into the chamber) with a new (less than 300 rounds) SIG 716. Pressing on the ejector revealed that the ejector was locked up tight, i.e. it didn't want to depress, and when...
An awesome match. My hat is off to Jake for the incredibly well organized COF & match. Thanks you Glenn Seekins for the outstanding food. To the sponsors: Wow! There were great prizes all the way down. My most sincere appreciation to the range officers who hung tough through some very...
Good news! The UPS guy brought the MB762SSAL/RE brakes ordered in February. As one of the Surefire reps pointed out to me, this brake is used on the USMC M40A5 system, so while there may be long dry spells, they aren’t likely to be discontinued anytime soon, the way the CA762SSAL/R was...
Try mounting it on the forward ring so the Aimpoint sits at 4:00 o'clock. Get the eye relief & cant on the scope dialed in first, because you won't be able to get to the front ring bottom set of screws once the Aimpoint is mounted. The Aimpoint illumination knob is on the bottom with this...
Shazam! That is definitely going to tell us how precise we really are. It is just too easy to forget our misses on steel, but those paper targets really rub our nose into what we are actually able to accomplish. Are you scoring the same three shot group (BULLSEYE/MOA) @ 300 & 385 for both score...
Re: Surefire Customers Beware How about I fess up just as soon as Surefire sends those brakes I first tried to order from them back in October? You know, the ones that are almost through production. And as soon as they make another run of the flash hiders (CA762SSAL/R) which were listed as...
Re: Surefire Customers Beware My complaint with Surefire is their support for ‘legacy systems’ (which were in production a year ago) tapered off really fast. Did Midway USA screw up? Maybe, but Brownells also dropped the parts from their inventory at the same time. The first time I called...
Re: Surefire Customers Beware Okay, to follow up and tell 'the rest of the story' for the interested parties, mall ninja's & internet trolls out there. Last October I tried to find adapters (either the muzzle brake [MB762SS] or the flash hider [CA762SSAL/RE]) for a FA762SS can which had been...
Most of you know Surefire brought out their new line of 'SOCOM' suppressors & adapters last year. What you may not have heard is they are no longer making muzzle brakes or flash hiders for their 'old style' suppressors. You know, the ones they were selling earlier last year… So if you were...
Re: High End Tactical, Part IV: The Heavyweights Ilya, I don't know how far you are down the road with this test, but I would love to see you include 'tall target test' (shooting a 3 shot group @ 100 yards, cranking 10 MILS up and shooting another group). I was disappointed with the accuracy...
Re: March-FX 5x-40x 56mm FFP thoughts As far as I can tell, the tracking is perfectly repeatable. It is just each click is worth 5% more than asked for. I have seen a lot worse, especially on IOR's. But 95% dialing accuracy is a bit disappointing on a scope which costs more than $3,000.
