Hey Guys! I'm the OP of this thread and astounded at the number of replies it received. My intent of the question that started it all was to find out if the equipment being used by the folks claiming the smallest of groups can produce those results consistently or if it it only happens...
I agree with keeping Grand Pop's gun original. You would be changing the character of the whole thing customizing it and you'll end up with several $$$ in it anyway.
I don't see the links you posted so I'm not sure we're on the same page comparing models because the MTR with the walnut stock is in the 750.00 range and the Varmint Precision Chassis is in the 1000.00 range. I work at a gunshop in Kentucky and we have a MTR for just under 800.00. I have the...
Thank you for your detailed reply. The gun shop I work (retirement job) at has an MTR wooden stock for around 800.00 that I was thinking of buying then putting the barreled action in my chassis stock. After reading your reply, the match chamber isn't necessarily better, am I right? Again, I...
The Varmint Precision Chassis that I have that started this thread must not have the MTR chamber. For the cost of the rifle I just assumed it would be their top of the line for precision seeing that the cost was considerably more than the MTR. I'm leaning toward re-barreling but can't find...
I have a CZ457 Varmint Chassis that I bought a little over a year ago. I haven't been able to get the rifle to shoot to the level I thought it should. I had it in my head that the actions of these two rifles were the same just different stocks. After reading more about the MTR I'm really...
Thanks for your reply. Even though I have a Vudoo the Kidd still makes my mouth water! As far as spending my money on ammo I would like to do just that but finding quality 22lr ammo is like finding buried Confederate gold! I get emails from companies saying they have it in stock but by the...
I recently bought a used VGW GEN1 used and called Vudoo and asked them if the accuracy would be better if I ordered a new one or bought the used rifle. They told me the accuracy should be about the same... To me that speaks volumes for VGW. They could have sold me a new rifle but instead told...
Thanks for the advice. I've been trying to do just what you suggest. Does everyone get this worked up when asking a simple question? I'm just trying to get better, not criticized for doing what I thought I was right.
I'm surprised at all the replies but guys I think many of you misunderstood my point and question. I'm not a competition shooter, just a hobbyist. I don't even know the different categories of match shooting. I just know that I like to compete against myself to see how accurate I can shoot. I...
I own a Vudoo and have found that SK Standard Plus and Center-X shoot about the same out of mine. You might look for it but it can be hard to find also. I'm pretty sure they are made by the same company just graded differently.
I visit and read posts on several gun forums and often come across posts with shooters talking about the fantastic groups they have just shot with their rifles. I have three 22lr rifles that I'm quite proud of. Vudoo Gunworks (1st Gen), a Tikka T1X, and a Cz 457 Varmint Precision. I'm well...
