Square Shoulders and Length of Pull

I have started squaring my shoulders when shooting my 6.5 Saum to better absorb the recoil and stay on target. My traditional stance with my shoulders closer to parallel to the rifle pulls me off target (especially at higher magnifications for long range shots), which is a little more...

    What muzzle brake is that?

Rifle Scopes Do the new ZCO 4-20 or Kahles 3-18 challenge the S&B 3-20 Ultrashort?

Understood and agreed. My only point is that, even assuming all specs are 100% true as to the unreleased scopes, I was trying to understand what improvements they would offer to determine whether or not I should wait for their release and subsequent field testing/reviews or move forward with...

Rifle Scopes Do the new ZCO 4-20 or Kahles 3-18 challenge the S&B 3-20 Ultrashort?

As far as the turrets, can't you get the 12 mil double turn turrets with the S&B 3-20 US? I do see the point that if the ZCO glass and reticles are better, and the scope is cheaper, that might offer a significantly better option (assuming the field reports from Hide members prove the...

Rifle Scopes Do the new ZCO 4-20 or Kahles 3-18 challenge the S&B 3-20 Ultrashort?

Upon reading all the excited posts about the new ZCO 4-20 and Kahles 3-18, I am struggling to understand how either improve upon the specs of the S&B 3-20 ultrashort. The S&B has better mag range, field of view, and top notch glass and mechanics. The only possible "improvements," at least to...

Rifle Scopes March GENESIS - ELR scope

I always appreciate innovation, and generally am excited that manufacturers are spending this type of time and money on development and going out on a limb. The "wide angle eyepiece” sounds also seems like it would be a great addition to March’s other lines of scopes (ie 3-24x52).

Rifle Scopes Should I buy a Tangent Theta?

If you are currently rocking an S&B Ultra Short 3-20, I STRONGLY recommend buying an TT then selling your SB to me at a STEEP discount.

Rifle Scopes New March in Exhibitions 2018.

Turn this badboy into a 3-30x52 mil by mil, show that its parallax adjustment and eye relief is on par with other alpha scopes, and cut the price in half and I'm in.

Rifle Scopes Reticle Design - Scopes with dual SFP and FFP reticles?

I would assume that this type of dual reticle would be especially helpful in HIGH mag scopes and scopes with large mag ratios. On a fair number of FFP scopes the reticles are little more than a tiny duplex at the low end of the mag range.

Rifle Scopes New to Long Range Shooting

I went through a very similar decision-making process starting about a year ago. Ended up buying and selling two production rifles and one scope and having a custom rifle built instead. Still haven't decided what optic will sit on top. I would highly recommend taking your time and doing your...

Rifle Scopes Reticle Design - Scopes with dual SFP and FFP reticles?

My FFP rendering was supposed to be just the marks that would be etched into that lens. Assume if they already existed on the SFP lens, duplication wouldn't be needed. Already put in a few calls to the patent board. S&B just offered me lifetime employment.

Rifle Scopes Reticle Design - Scopes with dual SFP and FFP reticles?

Have any manufacturers played around with the idea of scopes with both FFP and SFP reticles? I love the idea of having a SFP reticle for the cross bars and center dot and an FFP reticle with hash marks, preferably .2m hash marks and some "open" version of the christmas tree. Attached is an...

Rifle Scopes New March in Exhibitions 2018.

I'd like to better understand what compromises must be made for scopes to have a high erector ratio. I understand 4-16 may be all a PRS/tactical shooter needs, but for the rest of us a larger zoom ratio has some real advantages. Using myself as an example, I prefer a scope with a 3x or 4x...

Rifle Scopes New March in Exhibitions 2018.

I have been scouring all the forums before purchasing a scope for my new 6.5 SAUM build. The only critiques about the March 3-24x52 and 5-40x56 scopes that I have seen consistently are that: 1. The parallax requires careful adjustment (i.e., the adjustment range from 10 to infinity is very...

Rifle Scopes Leupold Mark 5HD 5-25x56 & 3.6-18x44 Tracking Test?

Has anyone yet had a chance to run one of these fellas through a comprehensive tracking test? IF they track and don't have any other weird problems, the low weight and reasonable price (compared to $3k and above S&B, Kahles, March, etc) might force one of these into the running for my new rig...

Rifle Scopes Some news for TT owners/those in the market

I thought I remembered seeing in a different post that Tangent Theta would be releasing a hunter "H" model of its scope that was a reduced weight. Am I crazy, or was this just someone's idle speculation?

Rifle Scopes Any new scopes from March at the shot show?

3-24x52 with high master glass, improved parallax, and improved eye relief (even if this adds 2-3 oz and 1-2" in length) would be a game changer.

Rifle Scopes What is the benefit of an "ultra short" scope

I understand and appreciate that the ultrashort models represent the latest and greatest from certain manufacturers. For example, I would prefer the S&B Ultrashort 3-20 over the pmii in large part because I have heard the turrets are a big improvement and they cut DOWN on weight. And I see the...

Rifle Scopes What is the benefit of an "ultra short" scope

I have to decide on a scope for my new GAP 6.5 SAUM. I have noticed that a good number of "ultra short" scopes being released on the market are as heavy, or heavier, than similar full-length scopes. And based on my (very limited) understanding of how scopes work, it seems ultra short models...

Rifle Scopes 2018 - Year of the Ultra Shorts

Hope either the ZCO 4-20x50 or Kahles 318i ends up being available to the public below the $3k mark, assuming field reports suggest they make the top tier along with S&B US 3-20. Love more scopes with a 3 or 4 bottom end for hunting applications with wide field of view. Praying someone steps...
