    Standard vs Magnum Rifle Primers

I'm loading 308 and 243. Powders are Varget, IMR and H4895, 8208, IMR 4064 & 4451. The Coronavirus dried up standard primers at Bass Pro, so I took some Large Rifle Magnums. None of my loads are near Max, so what should I do about adjusting the charge for the change in primers? Is 10% a safe bet.

Been off the site for a long time. Just trying to connect on the 300 Blk info.

    Cosmetic Upgrade(s)

I call the upgrade cosmetic, as I doubt it will make me a better shooter; my increased range time will do that. Here's the sit-rep. Rem 40X with the fat Benchrest style wood stock. I want a tactical stock with detachable mags. I've looked at B&C, HS Precision, and McMillian. I probably need to...

    One Last Gun

I think this has been asked before, but here's the story, and the question. I own nice rifles from .22 Rimfire to .308. 10-22 to Rem. 40X and AR-10T, with a Sako 25-06, and 3 AR-15's in there too. I want one more. Don't ask what I'll use it for, just think, I have $ to spend and I want one...

    Vendor Needed

Please give a link or contact for die components. Decapping pins for RCBS .308 Comp Dies, and the entire decap and sizing stem assembly for standard RCBS dies. It appears that over the years, pins changed. My old .308 decap pins don't fit the comp. die. Pin dia. to small.

    Trim Dies

As a brass hog, I pick up brass when shooters want to throw it away. As it was not shot in my gun, I'm laboring over the RCBS manual trimmer. Dillon has a trim die, listed for.223, but not for 308. Please advise as to the effectiveness of trim dies and how they work?

    Understanding OCW Testing

I'm just beginning to understand this concept. Here's the question. If I work a load up in .5 grain increments, and get the tight group I want from a given load and bullet weight, will that load eventually equal the results I would get from an OCW test? Not sure they don't take the same amount...

    Bolt vs Auto Loading

Looking though many reloading sites lately; I found a couple that caveate, max for bolt gun. While I have no need to push the pressure envelope, yet, I do have these questions: 1. max loads from manuals: Do they apply to both bolt and gas guns. 2. Would it be safe to assume that a load listed...

    Substitute for Varget

I've check previous post, but I'm cutting to the chase, based on the experience of the shooters on this forum. It seems Varget works with light and heavy .223. I'm shooting Berger 52 and Honady 69 grainers. 60% of my .223 is 52 grainers, as 100 yrd range is all I have to work with. Which is...

    Varget and the .223

Who ever posted the combination of 26 grs. of Varget for a .52 gr. bullet, had his stuff in one bag. Great combination. 7 of 10 inside the 10 ring with 5 touching in the bull. The other two were pulled out by skeeter from the sawgrass, sucking on my ear. Armalite NM lower, DPMS heavy with 1:8...

    Twist Rates and Stability

I'm shooting and loading for two AR's with 1:8 Twist. Now that I've gotten rather serious anout accuracy; quick question? Not getting the sub MOA groups with 52 gr. Bergers from Blk Hills with my 1:8 twist. Would a heavier bullet stabilize better at 100 yrds with that twist rate? Have Nosler 69...

    Case Trimming .223

Just started reloading .223. It was so cheap before, I just bought it. Saved the brass and here I am. All of it so far is out 1.765after sizing; looking for a short cut here. 1. Should I trim to nominal before full length sizing, or size, then trim? 2. Is it any issue priming before trimming...

    Pre 65 40X

From the Remington history on the 40X, it seems that in 1960, it was developed to be the best target rifle on the market. Sometime around 1964 or 65, Remington went to the SS barrel with a recessed taget crown. Before that time, there was no recessed crown and all the barrels were blue. Picked...
