M40A5 Surefire MB762SSAL/RE Gunbroker purchase has two notches cut out, said to be from the military armory as a removal aid???

Thanks. I agree! The photos of the one on Gunbroker that I purchased was another brake without cuts. It looked new. He said that this one, as with all the others, came right from a USMC armory in bags, new, un-mounted and that is why the cuts look fresh. He said some of the brakes came with...

M40A5 Surefire MB762SSAL/RE Gunbroker purchase has two notches cut out, said to be from the military armory as a removal aid???

Thanks. I know. Stupid... I have worked on a lot of rifles and a lot of HK 416s, MR556A1s, MR762A1s, etc..... Seriously hardcore binding issues with flash hiders, barrel nuts, etc.... and brand-new guns at that!!!. I know that I use an armorer's wrench on the flats with a 1/2" torque wrench...

M40A5 Surefire MB762SSAL/RE Gunbroker purchase has two notches cut out, said to be from the military armory as a removal aid???

Thanks! That is what I told the seller. Those tiny little notches have no use when there are huge flats in the center of the muzzle brake for a Crecent wrench. That spanner would snap in half or slip off! I call BS! If Surefire thought it would be needed, they would add it from the factory...

M40A5 Surefire MB762SSAL/RE Gunbroker purchase has two notches cut out, said to be from the military armory as a removal aid???

Sorry for such a screwed-up question, but I purchased a used, vintage Surefire MB762SSAL/RE muzzle brake from a seller on Gunbroker for an M40A5 build and when I received it, I found 2 cut marks on the back of the muzzle brake that look fresh. They are not in the photos in the listing. So when...

    MK13 Mod 7 barrel length????

Hey everyone! I am having a MK13 Mod 7 rifle built, but am unsure of the exact barrel length. I have heard 25", 26", and 26.5". The most reputable source said 25". I put 26" down on my rifle builders build sheet, so if it is 25", I need to make that change ASAP! What do you all say. Thanks!

Gunsmithing Why do all my high end scopes stick in precision matched ring bottoms while installing on a precision 1-piece base????

Thanks!!! I set up my scopes by leveling the scope mount front-back then side-side in a Tipton vise. Once its levelled in all planes, I install a barrel level and level to the mount level. I remove the mount level (making sure not to bump the barrel level!!) then remove the elevation turret...

Gunsmithing Why do all my high end scopes stick in precision matched ring bottoms while installing on a precision 1-piece base????

Another question...…….. I had GA Precision make me a 300 win mag build on a Remington 700 action/Bartlein barrel in an AIAX chassis. When they received the rings to cerakote to match the chassis (as they requested), they cerakoted the inside of the rings as well (I was not happy with that!)...

Gunsmithing Why do all my high end scopes stick in precision matched ring bottoms while installing on a precision 1-piece base????

HMMMMMMMMM...……… Yes!! Good thought...……. I always do. What I probably need to do before I take my first shot is to un-bolt the ring side cross-bolts and re-check the torque on the ring tops (about 18 inch pounds, then push forward on the lug and snug it up. That way I know that the...

Gunsmithing Why do all my high end scopes stick in precision matched ring bottoms while installing on a precision 1-piece base????

Hi, I have yet to find an answer that makes sense, so here is my question. When I lay my scope down into the ring bottoms gently after the rings have been torqued to spec on the 1-piece rail (50-65 in. lb- depending on the ring specs), it does do not glide freely. the scope sticks, so when...

EuroOptics .308 5-r Milspec 24" or SPS AAC 6.5 Creedmoor 22" threaded barreled action???

Hi all! I got a great deal on a Cadex Defense Dual Strike chassis for the Remington short action right-handed receiver. I'm wanting to add a barreled action and not sure if I would get a better rifle (drop-in, no customs) in the .308 5-R mil-spec in 24" or the 6.5 creedmoor in 22" threaded. I...
