.308 barrel length, twist, powder burn rate, bullet gr interactions

I did and I also finally had that gun built. 22", GAP #7 contour, 1:10 twist, using VV N150 and Berger 180 Hybrid Hunters. Wonderful shooting gun and thank you for your input.

    Should Dueling Be Legalized?

I thought this book a good read on the topic: Dueling: The Cult of Honor in Fin-de-Siècle Germany Curious if anyone has other recommendations.

    Should Dueling Be Legalized?

Of course. In the Old Order, he was within rights to decline at the cost of dishonoring himself. …at a time when honor was the currency by which men held status, standing, and function in society. The duel was simply the mechanism that enforced that social order, when honor meant something...

    Are Westhunter scopes any good?

lol, fair enough. It’s what I started on, and it served. Haven’t tried the newer entry level chi product and defer on glass/features. Mine’s sitting on a shelf these days, but still a solid construction.

    Are Westhunter scopes any good?

OP, posts 3 and 4 are sage. Common misconception is that higher magnification = better scope. If your budget is in the $100-$300 range, might also do some research on the fixed 10x from SWFA. Sacrifice variability for a very durable, serviceable scope at your price point.

That said, I’m hoping you get solid dope at 500 out there, before hunting at 500.

Rifle Scopes 10x Rifle scope capabilities

I run mostly fixed 10x non competition from 100 to 1080 yds. As everyone says, you absolutely see your target at those ranges, and trace and hits are not a problem. The main trade offs that I have run into with 10x are 1) harder to be absolutely precise at 100yd load development and 2) harder...

I’m having issues zeroing my rifle

Something that stood out was your 100yd zero with a .556. Unless you are only planning on plinking at 100yds, would suggest researching AR-15 25yd zero, 36yd zero and 50yd zero. You may find a lot more success, enjoyment and versatility.

Rifle Scopes US Optics Foundation series

I can comment on the Foundation FX10, (fixed 10x)... I was one of the poors when USO ranked as a big hitter on this site. I could only envy the ER3K knobs and GAP reticles from afar, and instead cut chops on the SWFA classic 10x, and later HD. In the ensuing years, it looked like USO ran into...

    CZ 457

Question on a snap cap extraction issue. Have not fired a live round out of a new 457 scout. Have tried some dry fire with snap caps, and the snap cap gets lodged in the chamber and fails to extract. I read from the CZ FAQ that their barrels are tight, and a .22 sized cleaning rod would be...

Looks like a discontinued part that will be hard to find. Might check with Lumney if they could help. Or your local smith may have a pile of cannibalized parts.
