Are match barrels worth it for a “new to precision” shooter?

Usually just a tighter chamber in production rifles, in custom barrels it depends on who’s reamer it is will have different chambers geometry in the “throat” sometimes they will tailor it towards a specific brand of ammo ie. SK/Lapua or Eley

Hard to beat the MTR for the price tag

Barrel Swapping from Bergra to R700?

It’s a fair ask, I mean it’s a 700 clone and has some cross compatibility

Barrel Swapping from Bergra to R700?

Also I believe the B14 is metric thread on top of all the other things that won’t let you swap them

    223 Rem Bolt/Trainer Loads

If I can get half that barrel life and stay 1/2moa I’ll be thrilled, which shouldn’t be to difficult but still a solid amount of rounds.

    223 Rem Bolt/Trainer Loads

I found something similar with the 75ELD-M, only ran one powder load through my replacement barrel but they definitely didn’t like getting pushed in the 2950 range. I tried some 80SMK and they shot impressively better a bit slower but I can always dial more elevation.

Ammunition evaluation and sighting in question.

I haven’t bought factory ammo in ages, so I haven’t been keeping up on what it’s actually costing but I will say my reloading cost has gone up a bit.

Ammunition evaluation and sighting in question.

Once I find a couple suitable loads I’ll go out to 200 and possibly 300 if it’s a calm wind day just to get that extra data

Ammunition evaluation and sighting in question.

I’d also do a 5 shot group just because it’ll give you a larger sample size and I’d send at least 50-100 before really trying to get solid data.

School me on 223 AICS mags

223 is a weird one and I don’t know why, either it works or is doesn’t. I know single feeding my TL3 is a slight pain because the rounds don’t sit high enough and I have to get them started into the chamber but yet it feed great from a magazine 🤷

School me on 223 AICS mags

Now I’m happy I didn’t get one for my 223 project, seems no one’s gotten them to cycle consistently.

Strong action for high pressure 7mm Backcountry

I believe the element/element hunter is the only hybrid aluminum action they produce, the rest of the line are steel actions from what I understand.

Manners Composite Stocks Estimated Lead Times

You can probably get away with a 26” M24 contour, I’ve had pretty good luck with that combo in my PRS1 with the heavy fill which should be a similar weight to the T2A-GAP

    Still contemplating a savage 10fp in 308.

Sounds like the project is moving along nicely

    Criterion 223 Remington match chamber

The 85.5 is definitely a long bullet, I wanted to try them but never got around to it.

    R700 223 Wylde @ 1040 yards

I want to try the 80.5 and see how they do against the 80SMK since they seem to be the easy button for me currently

    Criterion 223 Remington match chamber

Weird since apparently it’s throated for the 85.5 but then again I’ve heard they can be finicky with jump which is weird because all the other hybrids don’t seem to care.

    Action opinions

I like all the offerings from zermatt, I’ve been running a origin since its release as a jack of all trades action (my serial number is I think sub 500), I’ve got a TL3 that my main comp action and a RimX because the other two actions have been stellar and their customer support have always done...
