I will follow this thread. It feels like Ukraine is fighting for us all and we really need to help them every way we can. Russia with too much thoughts about itself is not a good thing for USA either. Now I feel afraid to live in the area of pre-1917 Russian Empire...
I have heard about that in some areas acquiring licences applied only by caliber, calibers or caliber range which includes .338 are granted so that .338lm is excluded from that licence. This is only second hand information so I cannot be sure. For me it was way more straight to apply for license...
Have you applied for one lately? Of course hard is not measurable but at least in northern Finland getting a license for 338lm for hunting is way harder than getting a license for 308win. Every application for .338lm for hunting that I know within last 2 years has been handled by chief officer...
Now my CTR is quite ready! It got a nice Spuhr mount. It will have better scope someday and I need to replace picatinny rail with the 20moa rail from UPR.
TRG bipod would be one option. I feel that Harris is not that wide that I would like to have. It's not that stable under M10 and I would prefer wider bipod. It would be perfect to compare SCAL and 5H next to each other. I don't think that I need pan but I like the mount in 5H.
I have been thinking exactly the same thing. I might prefer a 5-H a bit because of pivot point of cant is a bit higher than SCAL. That point has nothing to do with leg angle but the radius of round rail where the mount sits.
I have a Fortmeier too but I don't have a spigot for picatinny. I should get one. Actually there is also Super CAL which could be suitable for M10. I prefer podlock lever more than tilt so CAL would be nicer for me.
Actually TRG bipod has pivot point under the bore so it’s not hanging bipod. The pivot points of the legs are quite high which makes is quite wide and steady. Fortmeier/Phoenix and some others have pivot point parallel to bore over the bore and probably over the balance point of rifle so those...
