Finally got my scope mounted, ready to go out and shoot my new 700p!

After repositioning the bipod (thanks) I played around with the scope position a little more, which had me end up sliding it forward about an inch or so. That seemed to get me better eye relief.

Finally got my scope mounted, ready to go out and shoot my new 700p!

Thanks for the responses, as you can tell I am a noob. Which stud do you mount it on, the front or the rear?

Finally got my scope mounted, ready to go out and shoot my new 700p!

I mounted the bipod both ways and for some reason this way seemed to make more sense. Is there a benefit to mounting it 180 degrees the other way?

Finally got my scope mounted, ready to go out and shoot my new 700p!

I've been looking hight and low for some Seekins rings, but I finally got my Vortex version of the same Seekins rings in the mail today. I've only loosely mounted the scope, but I'm nearly ready to go out and shoot it for the first time! Let me know if anyone has any feedback or suggestions...

Rifle Scopes Help, can't find the right height rings for my 34mm tube scope

I just read in another thread that Vortex rings are made by Seekins. Does anyone know if that is true?

Rifle Scopes Help, can't find the right height rings for my 34mm tube scope

I finally got my Leupold Mark 4 base for my new 700, but I need help finding rings at the right height. In order to figure out the right height rings I need to mount my Bushnell HDMR 3.5x21x50 scope, I tried the coin trick and after mounting the base stacked up some quarters on the rail and set...

Rifle Scopes Need help with ring height & choice

Re: Need help with ring height & choice So I tried to order the Leupold base and the Seekins rings from SWFA, but unfortunately both are out of stock. I just got my Bushnell HDMR from Liberty Optics, but I have nothing to mount it with. I may go for some Badger rings instead, but I'm...

Rifle Scopes Need help with ring height & choice

Re: Need help with ring height & choice I think I'm going to go for the Seekins rings. I was thinking I should go steel but these seem pretty highly recommended. Is there any benefit in steel?

Question about my new 700p's bolt

I just picked up my new 700p from my local shop, and I had a question I was wondering if you all could comment on. I've handled some 700p's in the past and they are all solid guns, but I was less than excited about how smooth the bolt travel is on my new rifle. It seemed pretty rough, but that...

Rifle Scopes Need help with ring height & choice

Re: Need help with ring height & choice I don't know why but I'm not a fan of the extended bases. The Seekins rings look nice, I've also been looking at Badger. Seekins doesn't list (or at least I can't find it) the height from the midline of the scope to the top of the rail, so I don't...

Rifle Scopes Need help with ring height & choice

So I just ordered a new Bushnell HDMR from Scott at Liberty Optics and I'm getting ready to order a Leupold 15MOA base. I need to figure out what height rings I need so I was wondering if anyone could assist. Yes I know there is a sticky posted above that talks about how to measure to get the...

Rifle Scopes Regular or extended scope rail?

So via another thread I've been trying to figure out which scope to get for my soon to be delivered 700p. I haven't made up my mind yet, but I realized that I need to figure out what type of scope mount I'm going to need. Right now I'm looking for probably a picatinny rail mount with rings...

Rifle Scopes Help a newbie pick an optic

Re: Help a newbie pick an optic Any feedback about an IOR 3.5-18x50 or 4-14x50? They seem to be in the $1500 - $1800 dollar range (new) with FFP, illumination etc, and I've seen some posted on the exchange for ~$1200. Seems like it's in the same price range as the NF NSX but it's FFP...

Rifle Scopes Help a newbie pick an optic

Re: Help a newbie pick an optic So is the Nightforce an FFP or SFP scope? I thought it was FFP but now that I look at it's specs I don't see it called out as FFP.

Rifle Scopes Help a newbie pick an optic

Re: Help a newbie pick an optic BTW I read via another thread that the 56mm Nightforce scopes are being discontinued. Anybody know why? Any reason that should concern me?
