New scope for a western hunt?

Things I'd rather have; If FFP a reticle thick enough to actually see on low magnification. If not then I'd want daylight bright illumination as a feature. Or at minimum have illume vs no illume. I always want to have daylight bright illume on every scope I own but.... When it's needed it can...

The new Athlon Ares BTR G3 2.5-15x50, initials, and ongoing thoughts.

Okay I see what you mean. Maybe later today I'll get some scopes out to locate the differences in rolling ball affect. I guess I'm used to that too???

The new Athlon Ares BTR G3 2.5-15x50, initials, and ongoing thoughts.

Man you're making me want to get out mine again to see if I can see the things you saw. "When parallax is adjusted all the way down at low magnification, there is significant barrel distortion, with a "rolling ball" effect." Was the object you were intending to look at in perfect focus? I ask...

    Airguns Beating Rimfires

Yes there's all that. Wishing I had a Anschutz 1727F APR 22RF. It's the only powder burner I really want. Heck I'd even go back to NRL22 or PRS22 matches again to see how much better it is to have a heavy but balanced rifle system designed for Precision Rifle Sports. My old 1827F is neither

Rifle Scopes Is there a market for a good MPVO

On low magnification(maybe not on 1x if FFP but depends on reticle design) the tip top of the tree could be used as the pointer to the center dot, or the crosshair. Even better if having daylight bright illume. And at very close range you can use the whole tree like a chevron. Remember that...

    Vortex Razor LHT

As much as I dislike the compromised IQ on higher magnification I think I'm going to get a March DFP 1.5-15×42. Wish it was a little lighter but there's no perfect scope. I used the March 1-10 enough recently that I found DFP and a daylight bright dot to be great features I enjoyed in...

    Airguns Beating Rimfires

I'm needing to sell some stuff I don't use much to fund some other stuff I've been wanting but I've been blowing that off for far too long. Recently I robbed the March 1-10 off my AR and put it on my new Western Mordax Venom semi auto pcp , which it's about perfect for, except I like that scope...

Lash, which pcp can we sign you up for, lol :p ;)

    Vortex Razor LHT

I'm thinking of trying this thing out on the Western Mordax Venom I just got. Or the similar version Vector. Kinda a cheap scope but on this gun I need something really short, light, and less expensive. That's a March DFP 1-10x28 on it for now. Robbed from my AR...

    Airguns Beating Rimfires

It's a long explanation but as short as I can... PCP's; A 12 fpe .177 you can get hundreds of shots per fill using a mid sized bottle like a 480cc, and if you have say a 700cc bottle on the gun you could shoot more than a 500 count tin of pellets before filling that resevoir again. For shooting...

    Airguns Beating Rimfires

Way back I'd just go to the dive shop to get my tanks filled but most of my pcp's were 30 fpe or less so I didn't need to go back to get them filled but once a month in the summers. Fills back then were $5. That all changed when I started to buy more powerful pcp's, meaning fills were now $10...

    Airguns Beating Rimfires

PRS rimfire will change their mind once ammo has gotten so expensive to enough people that attendance has dropped significantly. Only a matter of time until that happens, heck it's partially why I stopped, and definitely why I didn't buy another case of lot tested Polar Biathlon. Logical...

The most fun airgun I ever had = Western Mordax Venom.

Easier to post the link to my review on AN forum but comment or ask questions here too if you want. https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/western-mordax-venom-first-impressions-and-eventual-ongoing-review.1336367/

    PCP for benchrest?

Generally you don't want to be using .177 pellets at 100Y. Slugs maybe but it takes work, time, and some luck to find the right combo that shoots well enough. Except for how hugely .177 pellets blow they are reasonably precise at 80Y because we can hit 1/5th scale chicken silhouettes most of the...

    Anschutz 1727 APR

I don't mind a new magazine system but it has to be as close to perfect as possible. You know how some companies are, they'll bring out great innovative products but rush it out with problems that haven't been worked out yet because the bean counters and ceo's thought we were dumb and wouldn't...

    Anschutz 1727 APR

I hope they get the mag right because if they don't that'll ruin the whole thing. The reliability of the Fortner is as important as the cool action is. It's gotta work 99.999 % of the time, and especially at this price tier. Man Anschutz you have one chance so don't screw it up!

    Vortex Razor LHT

Not exactly what I'm looking for because of the weight but I like the size of it for the mag range and as long as the 6x ratio, while being so "compact", doesn't compromise the IQ much, well good on Vortex. But I'm sure many will want that scope. Any specifics on the reticle yet? Daylight...

Lets hope it comes out in a more accepted overall form.

    Vortex Razor LHT

Yes I know. Except Razor is a flagship labeling. I had a old 1st gen Razor 5-20 that was pretty good so I expected similar and knew the G3 Razors were way better so I assumed which was a mistake. I bet if a vote were took there'd be a bunch of us that would pay the money for a Razor LHT...

    Vortex Razor LHT

Yeah it comes off like a scope in that price range. My inexpensive Helos G2 turrets are so superior to the turrets in the LHT that it's a let down. I feel the same about the Helos G2 reticles too but I'm biased.
