Poor-arue .223: Yall ever buy parts that turn into rifles?

Strange...I had an A5 receiver extension with spring and heavy buffer just laying around. Every time I looked at it throughout the winter it had somehow gained a part. By spring it had morphed into a 16 inch carbine with White Oak barrel, Aero M4 enhanced upper and matching handguard. The...

1X fired Lapua 308 Win Brass Reloading Question

I always take the extra time and resize in two steps with the final bushing a .335 inch for .308 Win. cartridges. Then I seat with a Redding Competition seating die with the sliding sleeve. The resulting ammunition shoots well. This is with Lapua brass.

Looking for an accurate compact bolt gun in .308

You could take a look at the Seekins Pro Hunter 2. If you are careful on scope selection, you can end up with a hunting rifle at 9 pounds including five .308s in the magazine. I gave myself one as a retirement gift in .308 Win. and it shoots pretty good. I like my Impact Precision rifles in 6...

    AR15 receiver/handguard choice for 6mmARC build

I'm working on my second build using the Aero Enhanced upper with the proprietary freefloated handguard. The handguard attaches by fitting into grooves or notches for anti-rotation and are secured by eight screws. This system is strong and precise in the way it all fits. Aero Precision has...

    Curious reloading problem

Don't worry about case length when using new unfired brass. First firing will expand the case to fit the chamber. For pressure testing keep tabs on the case head diameter. Overpressure will expand the brass there, but you don't want to ruin that nice Lapua brass so follow reloading book...

    Hunting rifle weight

Some are missing it. When deciding on a practical weight, you set that as the goal, and 9 pounds is a nice limit. Then you choose parts that will most likely achieve that goal, whether it be a lighter barrel or optic. Exercise is a good thing and everybody needs more of it...but it is not the...

Advise For New .223 Upper With 24” Barrel

I own one of the 6724s also...very accurate with Hornady 60 gr. Vmax. I would go with a 20 inch SPR contour Krieger or Bartlein. I've been having the same internal debate about the heavier contours, but the AR15 flattop is somewhat weak at the barrel junction. That is why some manufacturers...

Precision Rifle Gear Decisions on Recon V2

The V2 does not need an adapter. The Anvil-30 simply screws to the exposed stud.

Precision Rifle Gear Decisions on Recon V2

You've read what everybody has said..."Get the Anvil-30." Well, that is what I did and placed it atop a Two Vets V2. I am extremely pleased with the RRS gear I have purchased. In addition to the Anvil 30, I have a couple of RRS bipod clamps that accept either Arca or pic rail...great kit...

RRS Anvil question: rifle+Arca vs rifle+picatinny clamping reliability & strength

No, on leaving the non-arca rifle idle on the bags...shooting only. I do have a couple of chassis equipped rifles for locked in use, but I've only had the Anvil-30 for a short time, so need to spend some time behind it. The bag is merely a way to avoid cluttering up the bottom of some rifles...

RRS Anvil question: rifle+Arca vs rifle+picatinny clamping reliability & strength

I'd look at using an inletted Anschutz style fore-end rail and have a moveable 4 inch ARCA rail on that or go without any ARCA interface. I have rifles without Arca, and I don't plan on adding any. That is why you need to have a small table or plate attached to your Anvil-30. I made one from...

    Triggers

I have two Bix 'n Andy Tac Sport Pro triggers in Impact Precision actions/rifles. Mine are single stage adjusted to just under 2 pounds, and prior to selecting the Bix triggers, I searched the "reliability" of various brands. At the time, Bix n' Andy had one of the best reputations for trouble...

    Seekins Bolt upgrade

I had the modification done on my Havak PH2 .308 Win. The cock on close issue was the biggest complaint that I had read about, though it really hadn't bothered me. Turnaround was within a couple of weeks. It did cost me around a hundred bucks to ship it to them, but no shipping charge for the...

    loaded round chambering issue

Check length of resized brass. I had this issue with some rounds of .30-06 for a hunting rifle and found the brass needed to be shortened to minimum trim specifications.

    3b Barreled action weight

Similar? A Hawk Hill 3b barrel at 22 inch length is 3 lbs, 12.1 oz. measuring .775 inch right before muzzle threads. Installed on an Impact Precision action with Bix'nAndy Tac Sport Pro trigger, the barrelled action is 6 lbs, 3.9 oz. chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. I installed it in an MPA...
