16" upper on a standard A2 recoil system

Are there any reliability/cycling issues associated with installing a 16" barreled upper w/carbine gas system on a standard A2 stock w/rifle-length recoil system? Just wondering if changing recoil springs needs to be considered.

    Any experience w/DPMS .22LR AR-upper?

Re: Any experience w/DPMS .22LR AR-upper? Thanks, fngmike. That's good intel. I suspected the price of the DPMS unit was too low to deliver match-grade accuracy.

    Any experience w/DPMS .22LR AR-upper?

I'm considering the DPMS BA22-16 AR Upper for my Bushy lower and am wondering if anyone can share any experience regarding their accuracy, ammo preference, function with std. velocity target ammo, etc. Thanks in advance for any insights/observations.

    .223 and Varget....?

Re: .223 and Varget....? Varget is my "go to" powder for .223 & .308 bolt guns. For the .223, 26.5 gr. under a Hornady 52 gr. HPBT in Rem. brass works well in my M700 VSF (0.5 MOA). For the .308, 44.0 gr. under a Nosler J4-168 in LC-90 match brass does fine in the M700 VSSF (0.625 MOA).

Barrel Length for Rem 700 SPS Varment in .243 ???

Re: Barrel Length for Rem 700 SPS Varment in .243 ??? If it were mine, I'd cut it at 22". You won't lose enough velocity to matter and it would be a lot handier to carry. Slower powders (i.e. 4350) work well in the .243 and 22" would still give you a full burn.

SMACK THE SMILEY Winter 11/12 RESULTS BELOW!

Re: SMACK THE SMILEY(Snowflake) Winter11/12 ENTRY OPEN Snowflake mission accomplished, JB. I was "reminded" that I shoot better off the ruck vs. the bipod. Only one snowflake casualty. (KIA defending his perimeter) The rest were detained and are heading your way for processing.

Rifle Scopes EGW bases - any good??

Re: EGW bases - any good?? I just put an EGW pic rail base on a M70 .243W hunting rig. Excellent quality. Mine's the light duty model and is working out well with a Weaver V9 and Quad Lock rings. About $40 from Optics Planet.

    Beacause I'm cheap.

Re: Beacause I'm cheap. .308 FMJ will pop right through that thin stuff with little acoustic feedback but you will be able to see your hits if you paint it white. An additional layer of 1/2" T1 plate will give you a good long-lasting target.
