Rifle Scopes Ajack 2.5x70 with Fine Crosshair Reticle - What, where, when? (With Pics) - Need help.

You have a nice vintage scope. I can't help with the exact dates, but it has features common with scopes from around WW2. I have a similar scope on my Swedish Mauser, the glass is incredibly clear, even compared to modern scopes. The top adjustment with the set screw will raise and lower the...

    Winchester Model 70 L.A. DBM

I have a post '64 Winchester L.A. Model 70 that I have used in local matches. However it has a fixed 5 round magazine and on occasion I could have used a detachable magazine. What would be considered the best DBM setup for an older push feed L.A. Model 70? J.Murphy

Rifle Scopes Bushnell Elite 1500 Range Finder

I am posting here to inform anyone considering buying the Bushnell Elite 1500 Range Finder to think twice. I have had the Bushnell Yardage Pro 1000 for 3 years and was satisfied with it's performance. I have since started competing in Long Range competitions and found that the Y.P. 1000 would...

    208 amax with h1000

Re: 208 amax with h1000 76gr. H1000 in a RWS case behind a 208gr. A max, no pressure signs, great accuracy.

Rifle Scopes Bushnell Elite Rangefinder Reprogramming ?

My Bushnell Elite 1500 rangefinder refused to range past 550 yards at the last long range competition, Conditions were good, big reflective targets, new battery, and other rangefinders ( even other Bushnell ) would easily range to the 900 yard limit of this range. Monday morning, bright and...

    Gunsmithing Gas port diameter ?

Does anyone know the gas port diameter of a rifle length gas system for a DPMS .308 AR style rifle? I am rebarreling this rifle and would like to downsize due to the fact that the adjustable gas block is set to almost closed.

    Gunsmithing AR accurizing

Re: AR accurizing When correctly headspaced, the bolt face will be tight against the rear of the case or a GO headspace gauge and the bolt lugs will be tight against the lugs of the barrel extension. The front and back play is the space between the front of the bolt and the barrel face. The...

    DPMS real accuracy ?

I want to know what is your REAL group size with your DPMS/AR10 style.308 rifles. I have a lot of experience shooting prone with bolt guns, but must admit the AR style platform does not feel natural to me. My DPMS has a great trigger, match barrel, match chamber, good optics, free floated...

    .308 quandary

Re: .308 quandary If long range precision is your goal, buy the TRG. The semi's simply can't match a bolt gun's accuracy and you would only be disappointed.

Where to get full bull barrels?

Re: Where to get full bull barrels? Try Krieger barrels, McMillan barrels, or Shilen barrels, any of these companies produce match quality barrels and can fit them to your action.

Gunsmithing Broke in .308 AR today

Re: Broke in .308 AR today I find my DPMS pattern .308, premium heavy barrelled rifle much more difficult to shoot well. I have a lot of experience with bolt guns, over a long time, but the AR style seems to need more attention paid to technique and follow through. With good technique it will...

    Powder for 300 WIN MAG 5R and 190-200 SMK...RL-22?

Re: Powder for 300 WIN MAG 5R and 190-200 SMK...RL-22? The Reloader series, Re22 and Re25 are double based powders, giving them more energy, but more sensitive to temp swings. The Hodgdon H1000 and H4831 are from their Extreme series of temp stable powders, which are all single based. I would...

    Primer Age?

I have inherited a large number of CCI large rifle primers with the red lettering on the cartons. These cartons contain 10 small boxes with bulk rows of 10, with 10 rows per box. Does anyone know the age of these primers? I also have older cartons with the green labeling.

    Barrel wear/pitting v velocity?

Re: Barrel wear/pitting v velocity? I think you're right, a worn, oversize bore will let gas slip past the bullet, leaving less to push the bullet, and a rough bore will cause excessive friction, slowing the bullet again.

    Cases Separating after firing.

Re: Cases Separating after firing. If your chamber is generous and you FL resize, you are pulling the brass away from the case head each cycle. If you can use the brass for this rifle only, neck size, collet is fine, but you will need new brass. One bright spot is that collet sizing should...

    6x47 115gr dtac with ? powder

Re: 6x47 115gr dtac with ? powder The V 560 is a double based powder, similar to the Reloder series, the Hodgden powders are single based. The double based will give more energy and higher velocity, the single based give more consistency, especially the Hodgden Extreme series. There is also...

    Removable mags causing POI shifts?

At a recent tactical match a friend experienced large POI shifts when inserting full mags into his Savage Model 10. The rifle had been recently converted to accept removable mags with a new bottom metal kit. The mags were of high quality and not really the issue, apparently the increased...

    Savage F Class

Re: Savage F Class The only criticism of Savage rifles is that their barrels aren't of match quality, so buy the rifle in any caliber and swap out the barrel for a premium prechambered barrel. That would give you two caliber choices.
