Re: Teenager shot by cops 15 years is enough to know that if you brandish a gun at a Cop, you are going to get shot. Especially in Texas.

    Shoulder Bumping

Re: Shoulder Bumping I use a universal decapper...works great when you need to take readings on fired brass to accuartely set up your dies. They are really cheap, everyone should have one for this purpose.

    Rebarrel options 30-06 savage

Re: Rebarrel options 30-06 savage Shaw has been hit or miss with me...some of them have been good (not great) and others have been very poor quality with tool marks all over the bore. McGowan is a higher quality barrel...and at good prices. Just my $0.02. Call Jim Briggs at Northlander and...

    CZ 527 Varmint .223 Kevlar

Re: CZ 527 Varmint .223 Kevlar Jim Calhoon sells a bolt handle that has been groud to help with the clearence issues. I would look in to correcting the handle and not try to use extra tall rings or otherwise to correct the problem. Google "James Calhoon" and have a look around his site.

Savage 111 338 Lapua - suck or not?

Re: Savage 111 338 Lapua - suck or not? Savage makes great rifles...and their quality has gone up over the past few years. Spend the xtra cash for the heavy barreled version...it will be worth it.

    New project...

Re: New project... 22BR! Great barrel life, great brass available from Lapua, Lots of bullets to chose from, and very easy to load for and tune the load. Small case makes for a cheaper cartridge to reload in the long run. Holds 20-25% less powder than the 22-250

    Jewell vs Timney

Re: Jewell vs Timney Timney and Jewell both make multiple models with options...which models are you looking at and what is your intention for the rifle. If it were a benchrest gun...Jewell all the way. If it were a hunting/steel target rifle then I would think you could get the job done...

    New Toy

Re: New Toy I long for the day that my pile of spare parts looks like that! The rifles that I have put a lot of time and effort in to do not look like that! +1 on needing to go to gun smithing school Very nice!

    $500 40X

Re: $500 40X I think if you had some sesative measuring equipment and the knowledge to tell you what to look for you would be able to tell the difference. The 40x receivers were held to tighter tolerances than a standard 700 receiver and not only are truer than a standard 700, you should be...

    Ackley Barrels?

Re: Ackley Barrels? Ackley does not make barrels any longer, nor did Savage ever chamber any factory gun in a non SAAMI spec'd chamber or a barrel other than their own. What does the stamp on the barrel say? Post pictures if you can and we will try and help you to figure out what it is. It...

    Central Ohio Shooters

Re: Central Ohio Shooters You're so close to Thundervalley (north of 70 past Salt Fork) and Rayner's (near McConnellsville) ranges. Two 1000 yard ranges within an hours drive of Newark. Spend some time at either one or both of those ranges.

    Inconsistent Shoulder bump

Re: Inconsistent Shoulder bump Are you properly lubricating the brass before you run it through the sizing die? Sometimes with no or too little librication you can actually pull the shoulder back forward with the sizing button. Try a little lube on the inside of the necks when you resize...

Re: This guy can shoot!!! Great shooting...and inspiring. I live in Ohio and we are getting over run with wild hogs, like most of the country. I see signs of them, and can hear them when out hunting. I have never seen that many running around in a pack in the middle of the day. I think...
