Your .220 Swift has over 3,000 rounds shot through it? That's incredible when you consider the Swift's reputation for eroding barrels out within 1,500 rounds or less. That's awesome for you and your dad, but I'm sure it sucks for squirrels.

Re: $500 40X

Last time I shot the .220 Swift was in a 100 yard benchrest competition. The wind gusts had me adjusting the heck out of the scope. Well, not too much but it was enough to throw it out of its original zero. So, I shot one sighter, made adjustments, and then followed it with a 5 shot group. This baby can shoot.

I was going to have Mike Bush from BlackOps bed the barreled action in a Manners T4A or T2A, but I am now wondering if it will shoot differently for the worse if I do.

Re: $500 40X

I think if you had some sesative measuring equipment and the knowledge to tell you what to look for you would be able to tell the difference. The 40x receivers were held to tighter tolerances than a standard 700 receiver and not only are truer than a standard 700, you should be able to notice a difference when cycling the bolt as a 40x is much smoother.
