Watch Out for Scammers!
We've now added a color code for all accounts. Orange accounts are new members, Blue are full members, and Green are Supporters. If you get a message about a sale from an orange account, make sure you pay attention before sending any money!
As for the Tikka vs. TRG, The TRG is noticely more robust and better suited for extreme hard use. I'd also give the edge in accuracy to the TRG although Tikka's are not far behind, if at all when properly bedded or in a chassis. Most of the accuracy difference comes from the trigger and solid...
There are many scopes with better features and more modern designs, but none will compete with the repeatability and overall quality of a SWFA for the price. Especially the new Chinese budget optics.
I have somehow forgotten the right way to post pics from imgur, or has the site changed? Copying and pasting the BBCode or link, as I do for other forums, doesn't work anymore. A little help needed here please. Thanks.
Setup the barrel in the lathe, attach wrench to action, turn on lathe..........run? In all seriousness, you need a tight setup on the barrel vise, leverage, and a few whacks with a dead blow hammer. Heat also helps. They are on tight but will come off.
@dustingaunder Didn't have the tap, that was the plan. However, the barrel you sent me went on with some grease and encouragement. It cleaned up the receiver threads enough.
This was a exterior wrench, not clamped real tight. We even moved it around thinking it may be pinching on the threads. The attached picture is how we got the barrels back on. The last 3 threads were so bad they wouldn't clean up. Almost lost an action.
I've heard Tikka barrels were tight but wasn't expecting this. After breaking the action free, it took considerable effort to unscrew all the way off. Anybody ever seen anything like this with Tikka? Im leaning towards something going wrong during assembly at the factory and they just muscled it...
Anybody heard anything about these? Euro Optic has them on their site for around $800-$900 but no pics or specs yet. Looks like a 3-18 model and a 4.5-27 model.
If you got something you believe is out of spec, see if they will cover it under warranty. May have to send the whole rifle in. Have you tried another Tikka bolt or taken measurements to compare to others? A little play isn't a bad thing.
