lol this IS the big change. I am left eye dominant and I decided I hated using a righty as a lefty. Super sick, though,

Advanced Marksmanship With my budget, what should I do?

So I haven't gotten into the games yet, as I am just getting back into it. Obviously PRS seems to be the standard these days, but I am not sure what I will find myself drawn to. I was unaware that any LRF worth a darn was ~$200

Advanced Marksmanship With my budget, what should I do?

Any other suggestions? I see a few votes that say none of the above, but don't offer a better suggestion. Be a lot cooler if you did.

Advanced Marksmanship With my budget, what should I do?

Although windy here, I don't plan on shooting on days with gale force winds. I know it's hard, and sub 800M is where the 308 shines (if you can call it that by todays standards) but I stand by the fact that learning on 308 will translate to me being a better shooter. I may, next year or so...

Advanced Marksmanship With my budget, what should I do?

I did consider that, but I will be taking it out to 800-1000M occasionally, just not every day.

Advanced Marksmanship With my budget, what should I do?

Although I totally agree with the fact that 6mm/6.5mm as ballistically superior, because I only have access to a 200m range semi-locally, and I have to travel much farther for any greater distance, I feel the handicap of 308 ballistics will force me to make better wind and distance calls, as the...

Advanced Marksmanship With my budget, what should I do?

EDIT: If you vote "None of the Above", would you please be so kind as to offer a suggestion as an alternative? So, I am getting a little bit of inheritance, and I am allowing myself $2000 to get back into the LR game, after years absent. For maximum transparency, when I was last in, I didn't...

    Kestrel 4500AB Still viable?

Can I get more information on this? If it's possible, I'm interested. Has the wind measurement accuracy changed? Again, if it's still viable, I may snag one.

    Kestrel 4500AB Still viable?

I appreciate you getting back to me. I thought I remembered reading that custom curves were supported on your guys's website for it, but if that isn't accurate, I think it would be best if I just save the money. I wasn't worried about link as I generally try to avoid using a smartphone, so most...

    Kestrel 4500AB Still viable?

I wonder if I should just call kestrel to verify. @Kestrel Ballistics care to chime in?

    Kestrel 4500AB Still viable?

Good to know! Have you used the 5700 series? Is it comparable?

    Kestrel 4500AB Still viable?

If I'm not worried about the smart phone linking, is it still viable? I mean, can I use the same custom drag models etc? Will using it put me at a disadvantage in any way other than phone linking capabilities?

    Kestrel 4500AB Still viable?

Hey all. I see these posted regularly for sale at an affordable price point. My question is, is it still considered capable enough? I have trouble swinging the money for a 5700AB, but I can afford the 4500AB. What features am I missing? Can I upgrade it? If I'm not worried about app connection...

If you had to pick one

I was looking at some Bushnell as well

If you had to pick one

It looks like good specs, but seems a tad beyond my budget, if I'm grabbing a Kestrel, too

If you had to pick one

I'm gonna start looking into it. Appreciate it.

If you had to pick one

LOL Could I use the computer? I honestly hate smartphones, tbh. But that seems to be another vote for the Kestrel

If you had to pick one

If I went this direction, what is the best budget LRF out there? ELR isn't too big of a consideration, where I am able to shoot 1k meters is max range.

If you had to pick one

So if you had to pick one, and have potentially "lesser" versions of other items, what direction would you go for something with Applied Ballistics? The Kestrel 5700, Garmin Foretrex 701, one of the LRF's? I'm trying to minimize needing too many tools, and DEFINITELY avoid needing a phone. I...
