    Savage/Stevens 200

Re: Savage/Stevens 200 Another +1 for a Stevens 200 in 5.56/.223. Plenty of upgrade parts available, cheap to shoot, and .223 is a great round to learn how to reload with. My tightest group I've ever shot was out of my .223 Stevens 200, .241" center to center with the factory barrel. Load was...

Question regarding cleaning regimen for subsonics

Hey folks, quick question, hopefully it can get an answer before I go shooting tomorrow morning. Anyhow, I'm shooting cast lead, gas checked, lubed bullets at about 1050 fps through my .308 Savage 110 build. Nice and quiet, about one minute groups at 100 yards, good enough for what I'm doing...

    Gunsmithing Chrome Moly or SS

Re: Chrome Moly or SS I've heard that SS is slipperier than ChroMo, so I guess your FPS will be a tad higher if you used SS. I've used ChroMo and SS barrels on one of my Savages, and I couldn't tell you the difference between them.

    Gunsmithing Savage Bedding Project

Re: Savage Bedding Project If it really concerns you, open up the air pocket a little bit with a dremel and fill er up, and re-set your action in the stock. I'd be really, really surprised if that pocket negatively affected accuracy though.

    Gunsmithing Savage floating rear tang

Re: Savage floating rear tang I bedded my tang purely for aesthetics. It shot .5 MOA before I bedded it, and shot .5 MOA after I bedded it.

who knew santa had an FFL?

Re: who knew santa had an FFL? What's the trigger like? 1919s always looked really uncomfortable to fire to me. Awesome gift though, I wish people would get me stuff like that.

    1000 yard Mosin

Re: 1000 yard Mosin If you can get your hands on it, get some 7n1 surplus 7.62x54, really sweet shooting stuff. I hear that Czech silver tip surplus is real nice too.

    Gunsmithing DIY bolt knob

Re: DIY bolt knob Wow, everything went better than expected! Seeing the tape, drill press, chunk of aluminum and ground down bolt knob, I was preparing for a disaster. Looks pretty darn good though! Scuff it up and give it a coat of paint, and post pictures of the finished product!

Gunsmithing Being cheap with Marine Tex

Re: Being cheap with Marine Tex I use the little one-ounce Marine Tex toothpaste tubes for small projects like texturing grips and filling voids. Cures hard in like, 10 minutes too, so that's nice.

    Rifle Scopes 16x, or 20x?

I'll start this off by saying I'm a big fan of fixed power scopes; there's something to be said about knowing that your mil dots are accurate all the time without having to shell out the money on a quality FFP optic. Anyway, I've outgrown my Bushnell Elite 3200 10x fixed. Now that I've found a...

    VooDoo Tactical drag bag verdict

Re: VooDoo Tactical drag bag Okay, got the bag today. First impressions: the backpack straps suck. Looks like an old Y harness will clip right up to the delta rings sewn into the bag though. If that won't work, I'm sure an ALICE frame would work. Lots of pockets and tie-down straps, there...

Let's talk about ballistic freeware for PDAs

I just acquired a PDA, it's a Palm Tungsten C. I love it. I've been trying out various freeware all day today, and decided that I'll probably just buy ExBall or save up some money and get Horus Vision's TRAG software. What I want to know is, could I have missed a real gem out there? What...

    VooDoo Tactical drag bag verdict

Re: VooDoo Tactical drag bag Groovy. It sounds like the zipper pulls are the only big issue with this bag, and I've got plenty of 550. Shouldn't be an issue.
