Just checked OAL out of my old AR VLD magazine (2.450") and it's gonna be seated perfectly. Can't wait to snipe some coyotes with it out of my 16" WOA-barrelled AR pistol.
I have a 223AI AR 26" Hart 9T, and netting 3075 out of the 69 TMK for coyotes. 0 problems fireforming brass even military. I also use the old VLD magazines gives me .25" more OAL.
Got a buddy who uses the Leupold Varmint Hunter's reticle and target elevation turret as effectively as any I've ever seen out to 600-700ish. Although he factors all the environmental variables into his shooting solutions for his turret, most all of his 1st-shot kills on predators have been via...
Some have said that this topic is confusing, but I really don't think it is (entirely at least). I think it causes folks to try and understand angular systems of measure a bit better, and for some it's actually interesting. It would also be nice to simplify everything to metric, but at the...
Interestingly, I have shot it and seen it shot out to 200 yds. in the PI out of the Armscor bolt gun rifles they commonly shoot there. Did pretty well as I remember. We were hitting a rotten coconut almost every shot at 180 couple years ago.
I would also take a good look at the Nikon 2.5-8X. You get a ballistic reticle as well as target turrets for a great price. I have used most of the LER/IER optics on many SP's and consider this one to the best deals out there.
The last several years taking my rimfire pistols to long distance has been an absolute kick for me. Put the Nikon 3X AR optic on my little Ruger Mk III and often shoot it at longer distances. Surprising how close I can get even on 1st shots (as seen from the iron-sighted 500 yd. pistol shot...
I love the inversely proportional nature of reticle subtension vs. magnification in SFP reticles--dang fun to play with IMO especially in 22 rimfires when shooting at various distances out to 300 yds. or so.
You know what I think is the reason so many folks have problems with this concept is...
Thought some might like to see a quick target turret that I came up with recently. Was at work one day and opened a vial and threw the little cap away. Then thought that it might make for an improvised TT system for std. turrets that use the 2 Frearson screws in them--sure enough the dang thing...
Hey sir Daniel! What's up sir? Here's the latest I put on a MR Picuda and mom hit a coffee can at 600 once in about 20 shots or so with it. Interestingly the 600=yd. dope was right on at 135 MOA--
Hows this for a reticle, huh?--
Nice video, be nice to know more details such as MOA required, reticle, turret, etc. Here's a 300-yarder I did with a Ruger Mk III/2X Barska at 50 MOA up from 50-yd. zero using Blazer ammo I think it was-- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whC3fwmOk5c
I created this range sticker for a 1/2 mil system based on an 11" back to brisket coyote. I stuck it in a Butler Creek Blizzard scope cap cover so it was always there easily referenced by just glancing up to it, but coyotes only occasionally give you enough time to RR them effectively--
The...
I've reticle-ranged a bunch of antelope and some mule deer on the ranches I hunt and find that antelope vary little in their b-b dimensions as long as you can guess the ~age of the animal (adult vs. yearling). Deer are a different story though, and elk are even worse, which is why after a bunch...
One slight advantage of having both systems in one optic is that you'll now become thoroughly familiar with both, and converting back and forth probably.
