Magpul MOE handguard or Quad Rail?

Re: Magpul MOE handguard or Quad Rail? Thanks for the reply. I like a laser/light for home defense. If things go bad, a laser makes for quick target acquisition, especially in the dark. I will look at some free float guards, but will probably go with the Magpul. If the laser moves too...

Magpul MOE handguard or Quad Rail?

I am trying to decide between a Magpul MOE handguard or quad rail. I like the size and feel of the Magpul. My concern is stability...with it being polymer. Will it hold up well? Will it shift? I plan to mount a laser/light combo, and don't want to have to adjust the laser.

    1/7 vs 1/8 vs 1/9 for a 5.56

Re: 1/7 vs 1/8 vs 1/9 for a 5.56 I'm guessing the lack of accuracy with the lighter rounds may have been due to bullet quality. I have no idea what brand they were. The person that had the RRA gave them to me to sight in his weapon. I know he bought them in bulk, but that and the weight is...

Cheap, but good entry level AR

Re: Cheap, but good entry level AR Thank you 1911Ken. I just ordered a 16" mid upper from PSA for $279. Now, I just need to find a good deal on a BCG.

    1/7 vs 1/8 vs 1/9 for a 5.56

Re: 1/7 vs 1/8 vs 1/9 for a 5.56 Kraig, Thanks for that info. I guess it was just the particular gun I was shooting. The owner, my uncle, said he didn't shoot it well, and thought it was his eyes. I'm thinking it's the gun. Now I won't mind ordering a Spikes or BCM upper. Thanks again...

    1/7 vs 1/8 vs 1/9 for a 5.56

I purchased a Spikes Tactical complete lower, and was thinking of getting one of their complete uppers. However, I'm wanting a 1/8 or 1/9 twist rate, and it doesn't appear they sell any. I was also thinking of a BCM upper, and I don't think they sell any with those rates either. I plan to...

Cheap, but good entry level AR

Re: Cheap, but good entry level AR Well,I ordered the S&W, and was told it was in stock at that time. I called back a few days later, and they said they had made a mistake; that the Smith's are on back order, and they don't know when they will come in. I bought a Spikes complete lower this...

    Mega Upper - Good?

Anyone have information on Mega uppers? I posted earlier asking about YHM, and have not seen any replies. This makes me a little leery of going with one. The shop also suggested a Mega upper, but I haven't heard of them either. Thanks

Re: YHM If it helps, YHM stands for Yankee Hill Machine Company.

Can anyone speak to the quality of YHM upper receivers, and/or Wilson barrels?

Cheap, but good entry level AR

Re: Cheap, but good entry level AR Well, I have decided on the M&P 15 Sport. I found a shop in Kentucky that has them for $556 for LE,AD military, and retired military. For that price, I have to give it a try.

Cheap, but good entry level AR

Re: Cheap, but good entry level AR After researching the Spikes Tactical, I may go that route. It looks like a lot more rifle for only $100 - $200 more.

Cheap, but good entry level AR

Re: Cheap, but good entry level AR They go for around $640 - $700 around here. I haven't heard much about Spikes, I'll have to look into them.

Cheap, but good entry level AR

Re: Cheap, but good entry level AR I appreciate all of the responses and information. I agree that the S&W isn't on par with some, but I think it's a good fit for what I am looking for. I want a low price AR that is fairly accurate, and will go bang when I pull the trigger. I have done a...

Cheap, but good entry level AR

Re: Cheap, but good entry level AR Thanks for all of the input. I took a look at the PSA, and it looks like a good deal for what you get. However, it's about $500 more than a S&W. Still, it may be worth saving up for.

Cheap, but good entry level AR

Re: Cheap, but good entry level AR Haha, I like your post. I have had enough time in the sand box, and don't plan on invading anybody in the near future, so I will probably get the smith. Thanks for the reply.

Cheap, but good entry level AR

I was thinking of building an AR, but am considering a lower priced, complete gun. I am seriously considering the S&W M&P 15 Sport. It looks like a great deal for an entry level AR. I like that it has a 1/8 twist. It will primarily be used for home defense and plinking. I spent many years...

Looking for input on Bushmaster Carbon ARs

I'm looking to get an AR and am attracted to the low price of the Bushmaster Carbons. It will primarily be used for defense and plinking. Bushmaster says the carbon upper and lower are 40% stronger than the typical aluminum receivers, but I have some reservations. Does anyone have...
