    357 Magnum loads

Yes, crimp as required. For that gun I'd just load up some mid level charges with a medium speed powder & have at it. No sense to be hard on the gun if not needed. I usually load a mid charge of H Universal for my 357s. If need be I have win 296 & 185 grn Beartooth bullet loads for the...

Noob, new Rem700 and some trigger questions

Re: Noob, new Rem700 and some trigger questions Yes, you can work or have someone else deal with the factory trigger. Even the newer 'X-Mark Pro' trigger isn't that great. One I had was still above an inconsistent 4 lbs with the screw totally out. I have a Timney & Shilen in my 700s now...

    unknown powder

Re: unknown powder This came out of factory loaded ammo? If so the only thing you could do with it would be to recreate the factory rounds with the same, or slightly lighter weight bullets. I'd also back off the powder charge just a tad. Of course the easy & correct answer is to dispose...

    Goodbye Wisconsin... I've had enough!

Re: Goodbye Wisconsin... I've had enough! I'm pissed too. I don't know how people can pay the property taxes. I'm looking at SD.

    Lesson learned, maybe...

Re: Lesson learned, maybe... Looks like another muzzle-loader that's mostly done for. Maybe it will work but won't be very pretty anymore. For the most part it's best to clean a m-l later the same day you shoot it. You can go a little longer with Blackhorn 209. I once traded a BP handgun to...

    Seating Die question 30-06

Re: Seating Die question 30-06 That slight ring should not be any problem, beyond looks. How much force is required to seat the bullet? More force ='s more of a 'ring'. You need some tension to hold the bullet. Do you have a slight bevel on the inside of the mouth to allow the bullet to get...

    Vehicle Break ins!!!

Re: Vehicle Break ins!!! That's to bad. I'm sure the sn is listed as 'stolen' by now. You need a cheaper gun if/when you keep it in your vehicle. Hopefully you find something out by looking into likely suspects.

    Good all around powder?

Re: Good all around powder? Depending on bullet weight I'd go with H-4895 for the rifles & maybe Hodgdon Universal for the handgun.

    Hunting & Fishing Canned Venison.....

Re: Canned Venison..... Reminds me of the year I was hunting in a remote section of the U.P. of MI. The eve before(whole day), I overdid it on venison chili, lots of beans too & some halapenos. I was wearing my camo overalls, it was cold with snow on the ground. I didn't even have any T.P...

    Low recoil loads

Re: Low recoil loads They may not cycle at the lower charges but you have alot of leeway with Hodgdon's "60% Rule" & H-4895 powder. I've done it myself with the 300WSM & 30-06 using 150 grain bullets. I didn't go right to the lower limits. That all depends on your intended use.

    reloading question

Re: reloading question I would never load a COL that would go 'into the lands'. I could maybe see some application for certain range shooting. In my case I'm talking a hunting or plinking type use. I measure max COL for a given bullet then I bounce that off magazine length & compare to book...

    DANGEROUS! Summit .308 misloaded rounds!

Re: Summit .308 misloaded rounds! The powder used in 50BMG reloading would be very slow compared to the average 308 powder. I don't see how a case full would blow up a 308, not working properly I could see. Now if you filled that case even half way with a fast pistol powder you would have...
