    How diverse is your area?

http://projects.nytimes.com/census/2010/explorer Kind of an interesting map, breaks down population in a lot of ways. A little scarey really when you think about it. This map is kind of centered on my place and it is pretty sparse. What does yours look like?

Hunting & Fishing Can I get by using a fixed 10x scope for hunting?

Re: Can I get by using a fixed 10x scope for hunting? Hell if you have that kind of money into a rig, and want to hunt, just go buy a Marlin XS7 or a Savage Axis for about $300 and toss a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9 on top, for just over $400 you will have a decent hunting rig and not be carrying...

Re: Why the 308? Availability and accessibility. At least for me, same reason I hunt with a .30-30 and a .270.

    bolt action bedding

Re: bolt action bedding Nope stock, action and bottom metal. The stock is sandwiched between the two. Bedding it will ensure there is even pressure on the action when the bolts are tightened.

Hunting & Fishing Your longest kill...

Re: Your longest kill... Not that far away but the one I am most proud of was a bumblebee at 15 yards with a Henry .22 lever action. On big game 85 yards on a whitetail, no big open spaces where I hunt and I like to stalk in closer than 50 usually.

Hunting & Fishing Show your hunting rigs!

Re: Show your hunting rigs! Here is my favorite hunting rig; 336 cut down to 16" with an XS Scout Mount and a Swift 1.25-4: It may not be the coolest rig out there, but in the woods I hunt a 100 yard shot is long range, and it gets the job done every year.
