Re: IOR 308 BDC ballistics model?
Between Val and paraiso I think I have it worked out.
Based on the info from Val and paraiso(the field manual) here's what I came up with...
Range - Drop(in) - Drop(MOA)
100 - 0 - 0
150 - 1.3 - 0.8
200 - 4.1 - 1.9
250 - 8.5 - 3.2
300 - 14.7 - 4.7
350 - 22.8...
Re: Ballistics Notation Question
I got my answer. Apparently they are velocity ranges. I'm no Aerodynamics expert, so I don't understand why drag changes at various velocities, perhaps with the sound barrier? Anyhow, now I know how to use the info. Thanks.
Re: Ballistics Notation Question
I was playing with JBM's web site. There are number ranges with some of the coefficients, but I wasn't sure whether they were velocity, altitude, or something entirely different.
On some bullets there are multiple ballistic coefficients. They usually have an (H), (M), or (L) after the coefficient. What do those notations mean and how do I know which coefficient to use?
Thanks!
Re: IOR 308 BDC ballistics model?
@nfoley - I'll let you know. The .5 mil marks should make adjustments quick and easy. The mils are only accurate at 12x power, but if I'm shooting long range that'll be my power of choice anyhow.
Re: IOR 308 BDC ballistics model?
@McGavin - I checked those scopes out, and while nice, I really wanted the extra field of view of the 2-12.
Knowing exactly how much drop the preset BDC clicks are set for will make it easy to calculate the ranges for those drops with my preferred round and...
Hi, I just purchased an IOR Valdada 2-12x36 for my AR-10. It has the 308 BDC ranged from 100 to 800 at 50yd increments. Does any one know what the ballistic info is for those marks? The web sight says 'NATO 168gr', but JBM's ballistic site doesn't include any such round. Can someone either...
