I'm in eastern NC, Jacksonville area. From the searching I've done it sounds like I have to travel a ways for anything over 500, anyone know of good coyote hunting land? I've tried public game lands and they are packed with deer and bird hunters

Photos Beginner Photographer + 700 Frankenrifle

Hey everyone, just wanted to share some photos I've taken of my babies. If you know you know, guns and cameras are both expensive hobbies but I get a lot out of both. Critiques welcome, I'm still finding my niche but having a blast so far. These image files are yuge so standby

Flatwoods was kinda trashy in my experience, it was super crowded and they only go out to 200 in one or two lanes. I go to SureShot in Havelock, out to 500 and pretty decent facility. Have USPSA matches third Sunday of every month at 1pm, only like six shooters the one time I went. I'm looking...

Lighter bullet, OAL, and seating depth?

Rifle is a 700 7mm-08, 9.25-twist, 26" SPS Varmint. It shoots great with my current load, but the issue I have, like many others, is that to load the bullet (162 ELD-M) .015 off the lands, I have to load them over magazine capacity. I'm at 2.960 right now. My question is, if I switch to a...

Priced competitively under the RPR, sub-MOA guarantee, and available in .260. Hopefully Remington pulled their head out of their ass for this one. I will say, anyone else triggered by the fact they claim it is "silencer" ready?

The fate of the Remington 700 in 2017

Howdy all. Just swam through all this thread's BS, found it all very interesting. Who doesn't love a dick measuring contest? I was hoping to be the first to bring it up, but Rhyno hit it here. Contrary to popular belief, the American mentality is not all gone. Dad's who grew up shooting 700's...

    More "grippy" feet for Harris?

I can't seem to get enough friction/grip to load the bipod properly, shooting prone on grass and sitting off a concrete bench. Unless my idea of "loading" is grossly off, is there any one that makes more tacky/grippy feet for Harris bipods? Or do I need to entirely switch systems? Thanks!

Ways to raise velocity from established load?

Thanks everyone for all of the suggestions. Sounds like I will be ordering a headspace gauge and doing some fiddling with it. Nebie move, I didn't know the primer punch could be individually adjusted, so that's good to know. I just ordered fresh brass to start from scratch, that should help me...

    Precision Rifles.....show em!!

Ways to raise velocity from established load?

So the chamber is something that threw me through a loop. Doing the old fashioned method of taking a test brass, chambering with a loose bullet, and reading the OAL, I came out way over mag length, to the tune of 2.976 to set the bullet in place with the lands. I tested this multiple times, it's...

Ways to raise velocity from established load?

Rifle: semi-custom Remington 700 7mm-08 Varmint, 26" 1-9.25 barrel, ~400 rounds through Load: Winchester brass and primers, 36.5gr Varget, 162gr ELD-M loaded .015" off the lands = 2400 fps, SD in low-teens I developed this load with the ladder test method at 300yds and it has been very...

    Changes to ELD-M?

A while back I bought a box of 7mm Hornady ELD-M 162 grain bullets, in early June or so. Finally got a load worked up, and I went out recently and bought another box. However, upon closer inspection, they weren't the same... The exact same item number (#28403), but the boxes displayed a...

7mm-08 powder choice with 162 eldm

The load I just worked up is 36.5 gr of Varget, 162 ELD-M, bullet .015 off lands. I know it's slow, don't know how slow yet but during my load development it turned out a .343" (albeit, three-shot) group at 100 yards. Edit: wanna try H4350 or RL-17 next, but MidwayUSA is backordered... Edit 2...
