    Bottom Metal Question Remington 700

It was called the Mag-Xtender, I used to have one for a Remington 700. As per the above, it replaced the floor plate on the factory BDL and provided a little extra capacity for the rifle. It allowed you to load up 9 rounds of .223 or 7 of .308/.243 with it installed. Pretty cool thing back...

    Mossberg 590A front sight change

They're epoxied on, however if you follow the instructions it won't come off. The sight goes over the bead and the epoxy fills the void around it and adheres to the barrel.

Concern about MK22 handguard cracking during first barrel change

After reading everything above I doubt it was the torque driver now. It probably never clicked because the material gave up the ghost before the torque limit.

Concern about MK22 handguard cracking during first barrel change

Well, I take back the torque driver and manual thing, looks like Barrett has a deeper issue.

Concern about MK22 handguard cracking during first barrel change

I'm hypothesizing here but I think maybe Barrett's manual doesn't help this situation either. Note in this screenshot from the Barrett instruction video they specifically note to start the torque at rear action screw but alternate tightening between the front and rear. Both instructions...

Concern about MK22 handguard cracking during first barrel change

I don't know how you'd test it but I caught my issue in a similar way that you did, just knowing by feel that it didn't seem right and trusting my experience instead of believing the tool. We can't say that definitely it was the 140 in/lb torque limiter, I was just pointing out a potential...

Concern about MK22 handguard cracking during first barrel change

It will be interesting to see what comes of this but I had a practically new All In One Fix-It Sticks torque driver lock up on me so that it was stuck reading a lower torque but it would just let me keep turning. I caught the issue before any damage was done and contacted them for a...

    Optical zero

Optically aligned with the plane of the bore? I haven't heard that one before, do you mean bore axis? Or, are you trying to describe optical center vs mechanical center? I don't know. Mechanical and optical center have nothing to do with the bore, bore sighting, or a relationship with the...

    Optical zero

55 MOA up and down would be mechanical center, not necessarily optical center. Instead of doing mathematical loop de loops, why not just pull ye old bolt out of the rifle, look down the bore, and bore sight the old fashioned way?
