Literally the post above yours lol. Too late. If by a bunch of extra parts you mean a complete rifle because I still have a rifle with an 18" barrel and NF 2.5-10. I'm planning to make that one a Mock12 Modone with a BCM QRF-12 and Ops Inc brake & collar.
I got the rifle zeroed with IMI 77gr OTM today. I didn't expect a significant improvement in the group sizes going to the SPRecce set up because the SPR and Recce shot to similar levels in their previous configurations anyway, this was just an amalgamation of them using mostly the same parts...
Quick update, I found the NF 13.5" rail for a good deal last weekend and it arrived today so I got it on the upper. My initial impressions are that it's hell for stout without being a boat anchor. Anyway, I took some weight measurements to see where it ended up and it's right in the middle...
This pic right here just sums up a scout platoon... I went to basic with the guy down on the M24, Joe C., we were in country at the same time but never reconnected. Probably posted this before but me down on my M24 w/ PVS-10
The picture above is pretty typical for most 1-X power optics because most of the time 1X it's really true 1X, there's almost always a little magnification on the low end, even on expensive optics. Playing with the diopter and position of the scope can help mitigate it and provide a nice flat...
Leupold makes this 15-30X50 spotting scope, my unit used them in Afghanistan and for a while after we got back until we got the Leupold Mk4 spotter just as I was getting out. The 50mm objective didn't really hold it back then and that was 20 years ago, I imagine they can do some pretty great...
You're not wrong, all of the components have been solid performers in their respective set ups. My idea/goal in this is to take the best from both so to speak to try and optimize a scoped carbine into a jack of all trades sort of thing that's for me 80% mid-range, 20% sub-100 yards. While...
Yeah, I used to run some skateboard tape on it but decided to stipple it awhile back. It's stippled around to the other side and on the top of the thumb shelf. I also had to Dremel it out for the ambi-safety.
I put the 4-16 ATACR on the Recce last night and really like the set up. Without getting deep in the weeds, the SPRecce weighs a shade under what the SPR did wearing the ATACR except compared to the SPR it has a better offset sighting system, and a weapon light while feeling better balanced...
It's because I'm broke, that's why I'm still running the same stuff I did in 2015 lol. When I could dedicate funds to gun stuff I prioritized ammo mostly, hence why I'm still running Keymod. The narrow capability gap is why I'm thinking of making a SPRecce and optimizing a 16" gun with the...
To take my SPR and Recce apart and mash them up into a SPRecce? I was thinking about this over the weekend. Both shoot well but they're set up so similar and kinda do the same thing. The only difference is that one is 2" shorter and runs a 2.5-10 vs. a 4-16 and for me 16" is plenty of...
It's always an old guy at a gun show who got it from a dead friend's relative lol...all they have at our gun shows are safety violations. The bottom metal isn't Badger Ordnance, PTG standard BDL bottom metal maybe but it could also just be the OEM bottom metal that's been Cerakoted. The...
That's a generic reticle that Chinese OEM's put into a variety of scopes. You can literally google image search "chinese tactical scope reticle" and you'll get multiple hits for this thing. It's not a serious use reticle, probably airsoft at best.
I went back through my data book and the above dope is probably good for 2,000' density altitude conditions to create a baseline. I generally shoot in the same area so DA changes basically come down to changes in atmospherics. Generally speaking, changes in the amount of elevation required...
Neat rule of thumb for scope height on Remington 700 based actions is that it's generally the ring height + 1.00". 1" high rings = 2.0" height over bore, 1.375" height rings = 2.375" height over bore, etc...
Basically the same here for my B14R & SK LR combo, it's running about 1060 from my barrel and the below basic dope has held pretty much true with some minor variations for temp. Note that these numbers are for my set up with a 2.5" height over bore, if yours is lower you'll need to add a bit of...
