    Heavy bolt closing

How far down have you adjusted your sizing die? I had the same issue when making .17FB brass from .221FB and ended up having to turn the die down much tighter than I would have ever imagined. Hope this helps.

Looking for Dummy powder and primers to teach with

Re: Looking for Dummy powder and primers to teach with For simulated powder I'd use CousCous or Quinoa. Spent primers would be the way to go, but another option would be to contact one of the primer manufacturers and see if buying just the outer shell would be possible. I'd think they would...

    range report cci quiet, gemtech

Re: range report cci quiet, gemtech I just picked up some this week and hope to get them out in my CZ Ultra Lux. It's already seriously quiet with subsonics or all types and will get better with the CCI's I think.

Rifle Scopes $550 credit to sightron

Re: $550 credit to sightron I'm partial to the SIII fixed scopes and have a 20x and a 10x currently and hope to add the 16x soon. I also have two variations on the SIII 6-24 and am overall very happy with all of them.

    Anyone ever deprimed their finger?

Re: Anyone ever deprimed their finger? I didn't puncture my finger with a decapping pin but while reloading 9mm I ended up with about a 200 degree circle cut in my finger that was somehow 9mm in diameter. Hasn't happened a second time and hoping it won't.

YoDave install question--how to grind pins?

Re: YoDave install question--how to grind pins? I haven't done that trigger job but from the sound of it you will need to grind the mushroom a bit to allow the pin to come out without using excessive force. A dremel will be fine and I usually wrap tape around anything I don't want the debris...

Talk to me about the 6mmBR round for match shootin

Re: Talk to me about the 6mmBR round for match shootin If you want a 6BR and need it to feed 100% just get the Elisio R5 and be done with it. If you aren't interested in that setup then the 6XC might be a better choice as stated above, but only if you are needing to feed it quickly.

    Converting a Savage 110 FCP HS 338 to 300WM?

Re: Converting a Savage 110 FCP HS 338 to 300WM? I don't see why you couldn't go this route. I'm not sure if the Target action is going to actually make it better but if it were my choice I'd go that route. Obviously changing the barrel will be easy enough and I'd assume the bolt head is...

Rifle Scopes looking for a mil/mil for a varmit gun 16x to 20x

Re: looking for a mil/mil for a varmit gun 16x to 20x The only item that comes to mind is the Millett 4-16. I have two as well as the SS 16X and optically they are close in my opinion. There are Mil/Mil and Mil/MOA available (I have one of each) so be careful when ordering. So far...

    AR 9mm magazines for Colt

Re: AR 9mm magazines for Colt I would go with the original Colt mags. I have quite a few of the plastic mags and while they work ok I did have to massage the lips quite a bit to allow feeding of hollowpoints. The Colt mags have worked with everything from the start.

Looking for two 22lr rifles. need help

Re: Looking for two 22lr rifles. need help Best bang for the buck suppressed will narrow the list down to something that is prethreaded. I'd suggest the Savage FV-SR and put it in the tacticool stock from Boyds. It's a shorter barrel than the TRR-SR and the total cost will be less as well...

    Boattail....not always the best!

Re: Boattail....not always the best! If the boattail is a disadvantage then why was a 1000 yard benchrest record set using the Hornady A-max bullets? 105gr out of a standard 6br case created a 4.2" 10 shot group.

    Rifle Scopes Choose a Scope

Re: Choose a Scope I'd say of those 3 options none. I'd certainly jump into the Sightron, either an SII Big Sky or the SIII series. You can get 2 or more for the price of your current options so no need to swap scopes around.

    338LM?

Re: 338LM? I'd go with the TRG over the 110BA since the prices aren't that different but I personally ended up with a 110FCP-HS because I love the feel of the stock. The 110BA felt horrible as did the TR or whatever it is from Weatherby. I never had a chance to feel a TRG but don't think it...

    Savage 110BA Action question...

Re: Savage 110BA Action question... Yes, if all goes well I will remember to get this done for you tonight. I'll measure my short action Target action for reference as well.

    Savage 110BA Action question...

Re: Savage 110BA Action question... Yes, mine is a .338LM, it appears to be large shank as there is a step in diameter just ahead of the barrel nut as well as the threads in the receiver looking recessed as compared to the nominal bore diameter of the receiver. My known small shank Savages...

    Savage 110BA Action question...

Re: Savage 110BA Action question... My HS version looks identical to my BR's target action with the exception of length so I believe you are correct. To save more money the LRH in .338 is even cheaper but the fact is you could probably sell the HS Precision stock to someone that ends up not...

nosler 168 gr .308 match ammo?

Re: nosler 168 gr .308 match ammo? It has always shot well for me and the bullets are my goto bullets for reloading 168gr as well as 190gr.

Finally taking my first big boy step.

Re: Finally taking my first big boy step. Get the Savage in the HS Precision stock. In my opinion, the fit and finish of the entire SPS line from Remington is lacking and I personally won't buy another one. The most notable issue I've seen is feed ramps that gouge the brass on all of the...
