Is it worth mentioning that leaving the country with them might not be a great idea? As I believe most NVD gear is considered military hardware and thus requires an export/import licence. Yes, I know, it is silly, but still just a word of warning.
Wouldn't it really depend on the ranges you want to shoot at. If you are planning to always shoot out past 1000 yards with this rifle put a 30MOA or 40MOA type riser on the rifle. If you will only be doing that rarely, stick with the 20MOA. Of course, you could always just sight in at 300...
Unless you are using something like Lyman's treated media, you will have a dust issue. I'm not sure what the moisture would do to media but my guess is at the very least you would have media stuck in your primer flash holes.

If you have assembled a AR-15 from parts, you could always look at building your own AR-10 based platform. Of course I know you said money was an issue, but for my money I would save up for an LaRue OBR. :)
So, what do people think about using a bore snake? For example, running a bore snake down barrel quickly after a day at the range? Just as a quick cleaning? Pros/Cons?
I like Federal Gold Medal Match 7.62 (or .308) 175gr SMK HPBT so much, I actually built my hand loads to operate exactly like it. That way I can use my hand loads or a box of factory. It seems actually like a black magic round, it is just that good.
A buddy of mine has a Lazzeroni Warbird rifle. Nice rifle. Recently the bolt has had this odd issue. As it was described to me, he did a detailed clean, reassembled it and everything seemed OK. A few days later, he was out hunting. He chambered a round, and then tried to flip the safety on...
