    Army M24 Build Thread

Back to the DFL on the bolt, back in 88-89 it may have been more black than the gray of late. My 1989 dated RR kit has followers that have a black/very dark gray DFL on them, I can only surmise that the bolts had the same coating. Anyone with an original 1988 to early 90s M24 that can verify?

Night Vision Is the PVS-10/PVS4 any good or should i get a pvs14?

too many stories to risk your money??? TNVC is a night vision dealer, that pvs-10 your looking at is a big risk, yeah the seller says its nice but... and does not show or state the serial number, could be former US Military property that found its way off base or it could be the best legit one...

I have seen this type in the pictures noted to be used with the M24 although I have yet to see them anywhere to be had. I use the USMC version since I had them on hand when I got my M24. The Sniper Data Book that is part of the accessory kit has a few round count pages and other data books...

Remington still has the coffins in stock, friend of mine bought a new one last year, no reason they would use the pelican if they have Hardiggs.

You got that right, if the buyer only gets what is pictured in the auction his pricing is way off, hell my M24 was said to have been over in the sand box and may have seen action too but the only kills I can confirm with it are white tail deer... I have pictures of an E prefix M24 with the US...

The XM24 rifle in the NRA Museum is likely a bid sample/prototype which would have been submitted Nov of 1986, it is doubtful that configuration would have went past that point. Initial Production and First Article test rifles were submitted in Oct of 1987 and appear to have been complete...

The Army should have bought the MSR and surplused the M24s through CMP, would have made future upgrades to another caliber much easier and cost effective.

Optics case exact dimensions are 18 x 6 3/8 x 4 5/8, in inches, just measured my gray case, the newer black cases may be a tad wider than 6 3/8 due to the new latch design. I have seen the cases sold with M3a scopes as well, you may find one in a package deal but you can always resell the...

    Army M24 Build Thread

There are no manufacturer stamps on the optics case that I recall seeing, even had the foam out of the bottom and no markings there either, That tool box from Flambeau would certainly fit the spot in the Hardigg case and its made by the same people just a different size.

I have seen pictures of the OPS Inc barrel mod done on standard M24s and A2s, the can in use one A2, no A3 version of the M24 fielded to my knowledge. M24E1s(M2010) now use an AAC can.

Yes they do, however you must own a factory M24 with a verifiable serial number to get them, replacement parts only is the stance they take on the issue I think.

You can still buy them, maybe they are holding them for LE only, nothing restrictive about the M24, NWA Tactical and others have them too.
