Re: Muzzle brakes. I recently bought the JP Muzzle Brake for my .308. It really helped keep me on target. I was shooting balloons at 400 yards and I could see them popping no problem. I don't have any experience with other brakes, so I can't comment. Definitely worth it in my opinion.
Re: brand new shooter accuracy I like stories like this. I have been shooting my whole life but wasn't really blessed with natural shooting skills. I have friends who only shoot a few times a year but have great results. It's awesome watching them fall in love with shooting just by hitting...
Re: Millett 4-16x50 TRS-1 I have one in my AAC-SD, only about 75 rounds through it. I am not attached to it by any means, but it is getting the job done for now and I got it on sale for around $260 I think. I'm looking to upgrade in the next year to something more in the $600 - $800 range...
Re: Reloader 15 in .308 Thanks for asking this. When I went to buy everything I needed to start reloading, they were out of Varget so I went with RL15 (for 175 SMK's). So far it has seemed okay, but I'm still new.

Re: Sorta new guy with range results (Finally) Looks pretty good to me. I'm in a similar situation to you. Been on the site for a while now, soaking it in, built a rifle, and now am trying to improve. Already an addictive hobby, but very much worth it!
Re: Millett TRS-1 MIL/MIL I was under the impression my new TRS-1 was supposed to mil at 10x, but I kept getting funky calculations. After finding this post, I tried it at 16x and it seems MUCH closer.
Re: DIY Target Stand Built mine today and it was great. 1 1/4 schedule 40 was perfect. I did put one .308 round thru the center cross piece and it almost broke it in two. It'll hold up for a little longer. I did 6' rather than 7' tall, with a nice 2'x2' target section. The election signs...
