Got a hold of some 6.5 100 grain Berger match bullets which are discontinued.Worked up charges from 41 to 42.6 of !MR 4007.If I had stopped at 42.3 would of been a great average..110 away from the lands and wind changing from west,south and back to west I didn't expect much. The little bullet...
Sounds like a good barrel. The 123SMK is 1.292 inches long so you need a 1:8 twist to make the 1.5 stability factor around sea level..Weight matters little. The 120 I shoot is 1.070 and a 1:11 twist gives a 1.66 factor.There is no advantage for me to overspin the bullet with a 1:8,only...
I have the older version,742 in 30-06.In 40 years it's never let me down.First shot is dead center,second close and third somewhere on the paper.Watch for worn rails in the receiver and rust in the chamber.Clean the chamber everytime you take it out or around moisture.It's still my favorite deer...
Yeah,I got bit by the accuracy bug.Takes three nights to load thirty rounds now.Just started turning necks on a lathe so probably will add another day.Just like racing,you want to do a little better each time.If I don't I'll spend twenty hours thinking about what went wrong.
