what powder best works on loading rounds for Swedish M41B Sniper Rifle 6.5x55

Masood, You might attract more attention in the Vintage Sniper, or one of the reloading sub-forums. However, I load 6.5x55 for both the M96 Mauser and for my Tikka T3. Most people will tell you that Reloader 22 is the "go to" powder for this caliber, especially when shooting 139/140 grain...

Range Report Someone's input on velocity estimation. Is my barrel that fast, or is Strelok that bad off

Run it through a chronograph. Edit: I'm not trying to be a smartass, but you've got a custom rifle, Nightforce scope and you're handloading with some of the most expensive bullets one can buy. I think it's time, man!;)

Range Report Someone's input on velocity estimation. Is my barrel that fast, or is Strelok that bad off

I don't have all your info, but I ran some numbers, the best I could, through Strelok, based on what you posted above. Using a velocity of 2750 and a 200 yard zero, I get 8.46 MOA drop. If I keep the scope at a 100 yard zero and use the 2870 you posted above, it shows 8.96 MOA drop. I'm sure...

6.5CM, Issues with 140 AMAX in 8 Twist Edit: Bad Lot of AMAX

I came across this thread last night and had to run and check the lot number of the bullets I just bought. Sure enough, they are lot #2130191. So, I loaded up a batch of five rounds before going to bed and I tested them this morning. This load usually shoots one hole groups in the .2s and .3s...

First time reloader- .223 Tikka T3 lite

My wife has a T3 Lite in .223. We're running the Hornady 68gr BTHP Match bullets over 23.5gr Benchmark. I forget the COAL at the moment, but I know I routed out the front wall of her mags just a little bit to get a little better length. You'll probably never get anywhere near the lands if you're...

Range Report Nosler Ballistic Tip vs. A-MAX 308 Win

Sorry to say, but the only way you will know the answer to these questions is to try them all in your rifle. Every rifle is different. For example, my .308 is a Savage 10FP. My buddy has the exact same rifle. His shoots the SMK better than mine. For my rifle, the A-Max will shoot better than the...

    So how'd I do. M1903 at 100 yards

Cool. My 03-A3 loves 168s (actually shoots pretty well with anything I've put in it), but I haven't tried 155s. Looking forward to your next report.

    So how'd I do. M1903 at 100 yards

+1 For iron sight testing, I'll take a plain, white piece of paper and spray paint a black spot on it, about 2-4" in diameter (depending on lighting conditions for the session). The contrast helps to get a consistent sight picture and it's dirt cheap, too. I'm also a firm believer in holding...

    So how'd I do. M1903 at 100 yards

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think that gun wants to group better than what you're currently getting out of it. In both photos, I'm seeing what I would call "mini groups", with the latest photo showing two such groups where two shots are overlapping. My hunch is that it's either your...

Shooting a Garand in a Carbine Match

Cool! I would love to do something like this (WW2 era 3 gun), but just don't have the opportunity around here. I have a friend who did one, using a No.4 Mk.I Enfield against more modern guns (mostly ARs) and actually did quite well. Looks like fun.

    SOV PE scope repros?

I had one of their older variants on an SOV repro I built. Back then, the scope's turret dials could not be turned to zero after you sighted in, which was kind of a pain. Nice glass for a Chicom scope, though and it held zero once sighted in. I never really wrung it out at any distance, so I...

Everybody should have at least 1....

Ah, I see what you mean. For the scope/rings, I wonder if it's not just the style of rings they used (adjusts the scope through the rear ring) that's pointing it off, or if it was drilled/tapped off center. I'll be curious to see what you find out. It's a shame what some people do to nice...

Everybody should have at least 1....

It won't take a miracle for that rifle to be accurate. Mine shoots 1/2 MOA groups with irons and that's not uncommon for an M96. Take it out and play with it for a while before you go "fixing" anything. You may decide that you like it just the way it is. Also, if the threaded muzzle bothers you...

    Longest Shooting Surplus Rifle

For the rifles of the time and the issued ammunition used in them, most are close enough in performance that it would come down to the guy behind the trigger. However, I can see where lower velocity rounds like .303 British could have trouble competing with .30-06, 7.62x54r and 8mm Mauser at the...
