The war in Ukraine and Donbas

There is no need for programming to happen when you get to see the difference between Russia and the rest of Europe with your own eyes. If I lived an ocean away from these events then perhaps I too would hesitate to accept reality because my only connection to whats going on would be CNN or...

The war in Ukraine and Donbas

Where do you get this crap? Complete nonsense.

The war in Ukraine and Donbas

I can't disagree with that. And if Russia at best is a nation of Clintons, it cannot be given a free pass that to wage this kind of burn-pillage-rape war of conquest against its neighbours because of its christian virtues. The whole meme about Russia being a fortress of family values is a...

The war in Ukraine and Donbas

No, my skin in the game is that I put my kids to sleep every night in beds that are within range.

The war in Ukraine and Donbas

The current president of Russia was a KGB officer during USSR and the core of his ruling elite stems from the soviet security appratus. They went from being an administration within the USSR to ruling the largest post-soviet state. I'd argue that the christianess of Russia is nominal and fake...

The war in Ukraine and Donbas

Again, if you want to prioritize resources, I respect that. But there is absolutely no moral equivalence between Russia and Ukraine. They're not "both bad". It's not close to being close. Very clearly, Russia is wrong. The worst that can be said about the West in this conflict is that European...

The war in Ukraine and Donbas

If you think Russia is some kind of haven for christian or "white" culture you're delusional and ignorant. Russia used to be a multi-ethnic empire, then it became an explicitly antireligious, anti-ethnic empire in the form of the Soviet Union. What Putin has done to the church is unforgivable by...

    7 PRC market penetration

What about a comparison to the 28 Nosler? All of my favorite American podcasts were praising the 28 Nosler for a while. Will the 7 PRC and the 28 Nosler be equally popular in five years?

    7 PRC market penetration

Reading up on this, it seems as if I might be perceiving the 7 PRC as less popular than it is, because it has not yet been approved be the European CIP, which has kept European manufacturers from adopting it. (I'm of course writing from Europe.)

    7 PRC market penetration

It's been some time since the 7 PRC was released, and I get that although a lot of guys who are into getting the newest thing have tried it, I've never seen one in the wild. I don't see very many factory options for it, and many handloading component manufacturers haven't published data for it...

Weatherby Mk V as a base for a custom build?

I've found a LGS (note: in Europe) that has a few used Weatherby Mk V rifles in stock. They go for about 450-500 usd. I'm not keen on the weird calibers, the light barrel profiles or the scratched, glossy, crooked stocks, but the receivers should be good to go for a custom build, right? I've...

Rifle Scopes Higher zoom rate - less brightness?

Could be that the z6 is older, I don't know. I'd also guess that the LT numbers are marketed much like some bullet manufacturers handle BC. Zoom ratios also make your scope heavier. I think they're overrated for some applications, especially LPVO's, that are supposed to go on lighter, more...

Ruger SFAR small frame 308, 6.8 pounds

I have to imagine the qc issues will be worked out by ruger. The scary bore scope pics seem like evidence they're trying to churn these out at a very high rate. The design is probably a lot better than the worst examples of its execution.

Durable do-all .308 semi auto - which one to get?

For reference, the B&T with an 18" barrel is $6700. The Haenel is only $3800 but it's really quite heavy, as is the HK417. A surprising candidate is the Tavor 7. It's durable, compact and weighs about 1,5lbs less than the Haenel, and it's noticably less expensive.

Durable do-all .308 semi auto - which one to get?

What's causing the optics issue on the 17S anyway? Does it go away if you run it suppressed and dial down the gas? Or if you bolt a bunch of weight to the gun? The 20S looks amazing but with that weight I night as well get something else for half the price. Getting a replacement 18" barrel for...

Durable do-all .308 semi auto - which one to get?

I'm a novice when it comes to modern semi auto rifles. Please bear with me. I've an old m1a that I use for hog hunting at night. It's kind of a handful to access the buttons on the digital nv scope while standing up on my feet. I imagine a modern layout with a pistol grip, a shorter overall...

Hot Take; Putin needs to just level Ukraine to save us from ourselves

I have spent a lot of time with russians and some time in Russia. The country is a mess, and whatever positive Putin had going on in the early years of his presidency is now being wasted. I live right next to this mess. Poland is doing very well in the EU, they're about to overtake the UK...

Hot Take; Putin needs to just level Ukraine to save us from ourselves

No, he's ruining the future of Russia. If he'd spent his time modernizing and reforming then Russia could have been on the way up, like Poland. Instead it's a parody of itself wasting its precious resources and people.

Ruger SFAR small frame 308, 6.8 pounds

Although they obviously have been cutting some QC corners I just can't believe they would mess up the gas block design twice. I'm passing for another couple of months to see what experiences pop up. I'm also kind of holding out for a 6.5 version ...

Ruger SFAR small frame 308, 6.8 pounds

So what's the status on these rifles now? If I get a 20" SFAR with the new gas block, will it run well suppressed on the right setting?
