It shoots pretty good...not as good as FGMM but pretty close. I haven't tried it on deer but I have a couple friends who have and they said it performed perfect.
For the money you mentioned...Springfield Range Officer. The Ruger SR1911 is OK, but not quite in the same class. If you fall in love with the RO, you can always send it to the Springfield Custom Shop as a perfect base gun for a build in the future. Dan Wesson is a step up, but you'll pay more.
I'll preface this by saying the 1911 is my favorite handgun, however, it's all about the shooter...not the firearm. My G21 will shoot just as well at combat distance as any of my 1911s. If your firearm won't keep hits on a Cleet target at 50 yards there is either something wrong with you, the...
Its OK. The way I was trained is that the trigger finger does nothing but pull the trigger. That's it. Not the mag release, not to activate a weapon mounted light. Just the trigger. That stuck with me and if I try to use it for anything else it feels very weird. Either works fine as long as you...
All of them. But start with the 34 for cheap 9mm if you can find some AND get the 41...because 13 rounds of .45 is nice and everyone says they fit in the same holster.
Glock 20. Love the 1911 but I prefer the Glock for the woods. If we're talking grizzly....IMO a handgun is next to useless anyway. Bring a charging, lightning fast grizzly down with one maybe two shots from a pistol? You're better off with the bear spray. G20 for everything else. 45-70 or 12 ga...
If you're practicing your draw as much as you should be...the finish is going to wear. Nothing's going to change that. The best shooters I know have pistols that look rough! Keep your holster clean and use the gun.
It depends on the situation. I left my first AR KISS. Fixed a2 hbar. I was always a believer in the KISS concept. Fast forward to putting together my patrol rifle.... I like irons, but they are useless at night. An optic with illumination is a must. Same for a flashlight. I can't tell you how...
Re: Rem 700 Varmint @ Dicks for $350 on Black Friday I bought one of these in .308 in early November for $460, which was a good deal at the time. It shoots under .75 moa with factory ammo. Since I bought it to hunt with the only thing I'm going to change is having the barrel cut and crowned...
Re: Barrel contour help. Thanks for the info. I was looking at the Sendero and either the light or standard palma, but I don't have enough experience to know the weight vs. accuracy attributes these contors would give out of a shorter barrel.
I'm getting ready to start my first build. Remington .308 in a McMillan m40-a1 stock. I'm wanting a medium weight rifle, 20-22" barrel. Most shots will be 600 yards and in. I'm looking at Bartlein and Shilen barrels. What contour would you guys recommend?
I recently got an old Remington 700 ADL 22" barrel 30-06 from my Dad. It's rarely been shot and I'd like to turn it into a good hunting rifle. My favorite caliber is .308, which is plenty for these little Oklahoma whitetails. Any recommendations? I've had good luck with 150 gr Gamekings and SSTs...
Re: precision rifles... show em Well here she is. It's nothing fancy compared to most of the sticks on here, but I love it. I took a few pictures the other day and just had to show her off. Remington 700P Warne base TPS rings Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14x40 MD
