    Ruger M77 30-06?

The Ruger M77 MkII is the the most solid feeling bolt action I've ever had. Another said it earlier, they're built like tanks. Mine was never very accurate though. The Ruger 30-06 I had I retired in favor of a Savage. The Ruger 77 MkII has that pencil thin barrel and a non-adjustable...

    Annealing brass

Definitely lengthens the life of your brass, no question. I wish I had started annealing sooner, because I had thrown away a lot of cases with cracked necks before I started annealing. Now I have yet to see a cracked neck on a case I've annealed. Live and learn.

    Springfield 1903/A4 "Sniper" Rifle

I can only attest to the Gibbs, which I own. It is absolutely beautiful, and I love it. Shoots great, cycles great, excellent wood to metal fit. Stock was a little dry when I got it, so I put on a few more coats of BLO. And as I said, I changed out the scope to a higher power. No complaints...

    Springfield 1903/A4 "Sniper" Rifle

Well, I actually have a Gibbs reproduction 1903/a4 and it is my most prized rifle. The original repro scopes (M73B) on these were terrible, but they have long since switched over to the Hi-Lux Leatherwood M73G-2 or G-4 scopes, which are awesome. They are crystal clear although only 2.5 power...

    Gunsmithing Stubborn trigger adjustment screw

I just bought a T/C Venture yesterday which has a trigger adjustment screw located on the bottom of the bolt track. It adjusts with a tiny allen wrench, and it is a bit hard to get at because of the confining space. Problem is the screw is so tight it won't budge, neither clockwise nor...

    Question on reproduction 03A4

Oh Lord! Hats off to you for doing all that work. I have a Gibbs 1903/A4, and its a beautiful rifle. Can't help thinking though that a rifle with a 24" barrel, shooting a cartridge (30-06) that starts to shine at ranges beyond 1000 yards, topped with a little 2.5X scope was a mismatch...

    Bullet weight and barrel length

Given rifles of the same caliber, is there any theoretical GENERAL idea that a shorter barrel (say 18") does better with a heavier bullet or lighter bullet? Or that a long barrel (say 26" or 29" etc.) does better with a heavier or lighter bullet? Just for an example: A 30-06 rifle can have...

CMP has repliac M-82 Scopes and Mounts

I know. I have the 2nd generation scope (the so-called G2) and it is superbly clear. Hence my initial reply.

CMP has repliac M-82 Scopes and Mounts

If this is also a 2.5X scope, I don't see any gain in dropping $375 and changing out the original Hi-Lux M73G2 replica scope that are on the current Gibbs and Creedmoor 1903/A4 replicas. Thanks for the info though.

    Gibbs 1903A4 Sniper

To answer your question about the scope I used, here it is: Weaver K-6 Classic 6 x 38 mm Hunting Duplex Riflescope 849418 FREE S&H 849418. Weaver Rifle Scopes. You will need Weaver HIGH Grand Slam 1" rings so the objective bell can clear the forearm wood. The scope is matte finish even though...

    Gibbs 1903A4 Sniper

Those rifles are great aren't they? And that is great shooting. Mine shoots extremely well too, and paper punching at 200 yards is too easy. I am stretching it out to 300 yards and beyond, but I had to change out the scope since the 2.5X Hi-Lux is just not enough for a 7" 10 ring to be...

    Remington 783.

This month's American Rifleman (November issue) has a feature article about the Remington 783. They like it.

    Thoughts on Savage 111

I just bought one of these in the same caliber (30-06) with the accutrigger and accustock. I have put less than 70 rounds through it so far. Just shot it again today (third time I've had it to the range) and I can safely say it is my most accurate rifle. Shot at 300 yards and put 7 of 10...

Rifle Scopes Advice on lower power scope for Savage 111 30-06, choose one of three.

Thanks. I ordered the Redfield Revolution. Thank you roggom for the promo code, it was still good.

Rifle Scopes Advice on lower power scope for Savage 111 30-06, choose one of three.

For a Savage 111 accutrigger, accustock, in 30-06. Ranges will be around 300 meters. Which one would you advise? 1. Weaver Classic K-series fixed 6x 38mm Dual-X reticle 2. Burris Fullfield II 2-7x 35mm Ballistic Plex reticle 3. Redfield Revolution 2-7x 33mm 4 Plex reticle These...

    Any experience reloading PPU brass??

Can't address your caliber, but I've reloaded tons of PP brass in 7.62x54R. They have deeper primer pockets, and chony a little slower than Winchester brass same caliber.

Long barrel - slower powder, short barrel - faster powder?

Take the Mosin-Nagant 91/30 which has a 29 inch barrel, and the Mosin-Nagant 44 which has a 19 inch barrel. That is a substantial difference. Would it not make sense to use a slow powder like Reloader 19 or 22 or 4350 etc in the long barrel, and a faster powder like H4895 in shorter barrels...

I don't have much hope for my Bruno's order.

I ordered some bullets from Bruno's back in March. Their website said they were in stock so I jumped on them (.308 Sierras in 180 grain). Bruno's has now added a sentence to their home page saying that though an item may be in stock when you place your order, it may NOT be in stock when...

Federal 215 vs 215 match primers

I have loaded Winchester, Federal, Federal Match and Wolf. All did equally well EXCEPT Wolf which gave me my only squib and many hangfires and "click-bangs". I have shot perfect scores (all 20 rounds in the 10 ring) with Winchester, Federal and Federal Match so I wouldn't worry about it.
