They’re good. It’s never worth the wait. Check out Moon over at Crescent Customs he use to build for GAP. Give Jon Beanland a call too. Or buy one of many off the rack rifles. I shoot a GAP in 7WSM and it’s a hammer. Took over a year to get it built. That was the shitty part.
I shoot a JP Professional and wouldn’t have an issue with it as a duty gun. I run 77 grain Sierra match ammo through it with excellent accuracy. I run it slightly over gassed but it’s still a soft shooter and extremely fast. It is a tad on the heavy side would be my only complaint. Here it is...
I’m shooting 63.2 grains of H4831sc with Berger 168 grain VLD. I’m getting 2980 FPS out of my 26” barrel. I can push it a lot harder but see no need with the accuracy this load gives me.
I don’t know what caliber you’re looking for but Third Generation Shooter Supply has a T3 CTR in 260 Rem BNIB for $801. I have one and it sits in a KRG Bravo chassis now. https://store.thirdgenerationshootingsupply.com/catalog/category/view/s/260-remington/id/10393/
Moon corrected an issue I was having with a Winchester action. He sent the barrel action back to me before I had sent him his money. I threw an extra $50 in with his bill ($80) for his quick turnaround and his trustfulness
Your problem is unique. It doesn't sound like a barrel issue but stranger things have happen I guess. The fact that this is happening in two different stocks makes it more of a challenge. If you can pull the recoil lug out of the Bravo chassis check to see if the mating surfaces of the lug to...
Put my 260 together the other day and ran some 140 grain ELD-M with H4350 at 2683 fps through it. These were the first reloads fired through it. It shot good but I've got to get more speed out of this 20 inch barrel. I'll begin load development in a couple of weeks. Hopefully I can get 2750-2800...
The only thing I did (after measuring case lengths) with my Peterson brass was chamfered the necks before I loaded them. I shot them out of my CTR in 260 rem. and they shot outstanding. I shot them from 100-1050 yards
I'm at a loss as to what would be considered new school in a short action for medium size game. Just because something is old school doesn't necessarily make it less effective. All 4 chamberings mentioned are excellent for cervid size game. If we're keeping it to short actions, there are better...
Everything is tight concerning scope attachment. Chronograph is a Magnetospeed. We used it for my sons 260 Rem to get velocity and his data was correct at 910 yards
