I upgraded from an Athlon Argos BTR. So far yes. I just got it last week. I mounted it on my RPR and took it out today. Nice clear glass. Positive clicks on the turrets. I'm still playing with loads so I didn't mess with the zero stop. I just zeroed it and did some shooting.
That was one of the scopes I seriously considered for my RPR. When I found I could get a Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50 for very close to the same price the Nikon is going for by virtue of a PM to one of the vendors here I decided to go that route.
I've built up a very nice shooting RPR but it is heavy and pretty much a bench gun. I've started kicking around the idea of building a smaller and lightweight RPR. One reason is my state has gone full libertard and they are doing everything they can to get every liberal wet dream through the...
In between storms I was able to try a few loads through my 6.5 Creedmoor RPR. It's been shooting great with almost anything but this load has promise. Load is a 147 gr ELD in front of 40.5 gr of H4350 in a Hornady case with CCI 200 primer. OAL was 2.805". Velocity was 2611 out of the factory...
I've got one and actually it's been a blast. I stuck a Romeo 5 red dot on it to help out my old eyes and it's heck on jack rabbits in the desert. I have no complaints. It is reasonably accurate, has a decent trigger and has been 100% reliable with the Glock and Magpul 15 rd mags I use.
Thought I would throw a pic up of my RPR. It started as a Gen ii .308 from CDNN pretty cheap. The .308 shot fine but I really wanted a 6.5 Creedmoor. I found a new take-off barrel on ebay and swapped the barrel then added the Magpul furniture. I've found the PRS stock to be much more...
I found mine on ebay. It was a unfired new take-off barrel. There was another used one listed at the same time. I'll wear this one out then probably replace it with a Criterion.
I considered the same scopes along with the Athlon Ares BTR. The Ares is on sale and cheapest of the three. Tempting but I have a Athlon Argos that is underwhelming and could not get excited about another Athlon. The Nikon looked pretty good and is on sale at Nikon. Solid reviews. The only...
I've shot FGMM through several Armalite AR-10s, a Colt LE901, a S&W M&P-10 and a SCAR-17 with no problems. Works good in my issue 700P and personal 700 SPS Tactical too.
I've done a little research and here is what I found so far. It will take a DPMS barrel nut but the barrel extension and bolt are proprietary so barrels can't be easily swapped. I guess a guy could have a S&W barrel extension put on barrel of his choice. DPMS Low Profile handguards will match...
I don't think so. I didn't see on the web site that it was for a 7.62/.308 AR. Keep in mind if whatever you get is not DPMS low profile compatible it won't be even with the receiver rail. In hindsight, I think an Apex system or maybe the Troy MRF-308. The Troy only comes in a 13.8" length...
I have shot some FGGM, LC-68 Match and handloads of 168 gr Hornady Match BTHP bullets and Hornady 155 grain AMAX bullets in front of Varget. All will shoot groups of less than an inch if I do my part. That's probably about as good as I'm going to do from the prone position and with the stock...
Well, you got me curious so I found the formula online, plugged in the numbers and came up with 49 ft lb of fastener (barrel nut) torque. Still very reasonable. Honestly, it's been so long I had forgotten the 90 degree thing. Thanks for the refresher training.. :)
Thanks! Brought back memories. In my other life as a jet mech I used to know the formula for finding actual torque when using an extension. I could figure it out but like you not something I'm really worried about in this application. V/R
