    Marksmanship for hunters

Frank's book and Marc's articles with my distinct hunter's perspective. The fundamentals produce results.

Last ski hunt of the season: Mountains, rifle & birds

And two details I've grown fond of on the Clymr: Grip and integrated bipod mount. Really like how well it packs. My build is a tad heavy, but balance is just "right"... That's 9.2 lbs silenced on a bipod.

Last ski hunt of the season: Mountains, rifle & birds

I'm not quite there yet. Need to build some more cardio first... :ROFLMAO:

Last ski hunt of the season: Mountains, rifle & birds

Here it is. Trimmed off some weight, installed Recknagel Secura safety, goofed the paintjob. The rifle in its original appearance and habitat.

Last ski hunt of the season: Mountains, rifle & birds

Didn't get too much hunting done past season either. Sent the rifle back to the gunsmith, trimmed the barrel profile, Cerakoted the stock (titanium) to a more discreet colour and most importantly mounted a M70 style safety (locks the firing pin, not just the trigger). Will post a pic when I get...

Last ski hunt of the season: Mountains, rifle & birds

Yeah, I'll get more control with telemark gear but I'm too heavy with the backpack to get the proper effect from it. Unable to get the "kick" and "lift" when turning. Also afraid to knock a knee to a rock and be immobilized. I'm not a good skier

Last ski hunt of the season: Mountains, rifle & birds

I don't wax my skis and use half-skins all the time. The terrain can be so demanding that control, grip and low speed is more important than the actual skiing. My skiing is in no way elegant or fun, it's transport.

Last ski hunt of the season: Mountains, rifle & birds

Just something a little different for most, but it ticks a few boxes for precision shooting.

Hunting & Fishing Sniping rock ptarmigan in winter mountains

Thanks, glad you liked it! I'll have a few more. We had a sudden, heavy snowfall and I managed to get out a bit. Now there's a sudden thaw, avalanches and flooding everywhere. Must've pumped 5000 gallons from my driveway... Great story! Hope they taste as good as "my" birds. I give them a...

Hunting & Fishing Sniping rock ptarmigan in winter mountains

Let her out, it's accepted on a gear-forum: Taiga MA jacket TSUP (terrain snow uv print... I think) Not sure. Swedes are also restrictive about silencer use. The dominant brand is now https://www.a-tec.no/ Yeah, me too. Incredible how those big beasties can disappear and require dogwork...

Hunting & Fishing Sniping rock ptarmigan in winter mountains

The meat stops curing and it will taste like liver... The 221 Fireball is very uncommon here. It's a dead cartridge and Lapua has now stopped production. The only reason I use it is to be compliant with swedish law (I live next to the border) for hunting their public lands. The 221 Fireball is...

Hunting & Fishing Sniping rock ptarmigan in winter mountains

Just something different. Short film as the cold sure kills the batteries, but it shows a fair bit of my mundane routines which tends to give success.

Hunting & Fishing Carbon fiber stock choices

I've shot the Magnus. It was really nice, handled the 28 Nosler very well - and again: In a format closer to a traditional hunting rifle. For shooting eating birds like this there really aren't many choices. A blunt FMJ that doesn't tumble when going through. Sako, Lapua and Norma makes good...

Hunting & Fishing Carbon fiber stock choices

A lazy +1 from me. I wanted the "LR shooting ergonomics" without the weight and size assosciated with other stocks. I definitively carry the rifle more than I shoot, and I certainly have enough stuff to carry other than the rifle. Very happy with the Clymr, it has several "why don't every...

PRS Talk Precision milling UKD stage

That was a well made film! I have a short one here that details the Truemiller, but the focus is more on how to hold the rifle for the best reading.

PRS Talk Precision milling UKD stage

He's sipping, not gulping or chugging. With that technique he should be fine long enough to get the job done... :ROFLMAO:

There is a more MIL oriented Slovenian (?) version as well. Sorry, I don't have a link.

PRS Talk Precision milling UKD stage

The precision milling UKD stage as done on the Midnight Sun Rifle Challenge (MSRC) 2019 match. It's a >24 hours "quarter-marathon" match with a strong focus on fundamental LR skills. All electronic aids (except red dots) forbidden. Part 1 of this stage is usually 5-6 targets UKD, done twice and...
