I'm not new to red dot sites, but I am new to magnifiers. I've always been a LVPO or red dot guy, but I decided to buy an aimpoint 3x magnifier to see how they work. I like the concept, but I'm riding the struggle bus regarding diopter setting. according the Aimpoint (instructions linked...
I bought an NX8 and Razor3 when both were relatively new to the market. both have their advantages. I used both in an advanced carbine class the summer of 2020. if length and weight are the primary concern then the NX8 is a really great choice. (I had the first gen reticle) for everything...
height is another under appreciated quality. having space above your long guns is really nice for handguns, documents, high value items like unmounted scopes. another factor is how the safe's space is organized - imo, most of the organization systems from the manufacturer's do not take into...
I have doubts the model in the post above is of Japanese origin. Only 1 scope on their site (the most expensive OPS model which looks a lot like the Primary Arms platinum) states the country of origin = Japan.
is this a chinese made scope? I'll admit I'm not familiar with most of the Athlon lineup, but a $1k asking price is a lot for a chinese lvpo vs something made in Japan or the Philippines...
anyone have experience with the CT 5 series? is it a LOW scope? that's a really good price on a 34mm ffp 1-8 optic from a company with a known history (albeit not in variable power optics).
Pick the one with the reticle you prefer, either will serve you well. the only downside to the Leupold that I see is the over priced illumination option. while 35mm rings/mounts aren't as ubiquitous as 34mm there are plenty of solid options.
had one, it was fine. They aren't on my radar today because of 3 reasons: 1) too many folks who's opinion I respect counteract and override all of the positive press on the brand as a whole. the few vocal supporters sound more and more like shills. 2) if they were as competitive as some claim...
the Elcan has always peaked my interest but I've never had the opportunity to handle one let alone shoot with one. how forgiving is the eyebox vs a good LVPO and vs. a T2? does the eye relief shift when moving between 1x & 4x? how usable is the reticle when not illuminated? is it daylight...
