Good pickup, thanks. Looks like I'll have to mess with some crush washers and see if I can time it properly. May go ahead and pick up a different one, I happened to have this Seekins one on hand.
My new stick. 6.5 Creedmoor Howa barreled action from Brownell's. MDT XRS chassis, Burrix XTR II 5-25. Pretty basic build compared to much here, but I'm enjoying it. Only put a total of 20 round down range, all barrel break-in, so cleaning after each one. Doesn't help that the shooter hasn't put...
I wouldn't say "updated", I'd go with improved. If you look at it from an engineering or machining standpoint, the Rem 700 when it was designed had one criteria-to be cheap to manufacture. Very simple round-bar receiver. No integral recoil lug, just a piece of flat-bar sandwiched between the...
Thank you! Guess I shouldn't trust what I get from their chat room. Sorry about the bad dope. Odd that it doesn't show on a search of "howa 6.5 barreled action". Anyway, placed an order along with a MDT XRS stock. Order shipped already, now I just have to relax for a week.
Sounds like they will continue to carry, I asked. They do have this, for the same price as the BA. https://www.brownells.com/guns/rifles/bolt-action-rifles/m1500-hogue-6.5-creedmoor-bolt-action-rifle/?sku=430105652 Not the end of the world, as long as you don't mind adding to your collection of...
I was planning on picking up a 24" 6.5 Creedmoor Howa barreled action from Brownell's, noticed they are no longer on the web site (only standard weight or shorter ones). On chat with someone there-they don't plan to carry it in the future. Bummer!
I can't speak for the OP, but I followed this thread because I had the same question. My thought would be if the PRC were "downloaded" to CM velocities, could you match CM barrel life and low recoil, maintain the same accuracy, but still have the option for "hot" (normal?) loads for extreme...
Yeah, I'm considering the build approach a lot. But Brownell's doesn't have the 24" barreled action on the web site right now (was over the weekend). And the MDT Field isn't available for the Howa. Probably wait for the barreled action to show up and get an XRS. Thanks for the inputs on the APC.
Oh, here is the rifle (OK to post link?) https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/152979/howa-legacy+chassis+6.5+crd+24+hvy+threaded+barrel+rwb https://www.howausa.com/carbon-flag-chassis/ For comparison, here's the TSPX https://www.howausa.com/rifles/tspx/
Reviving this old post-has anyone got one? I don't like the flag finish, but you sure get a lot of rifle for the price. Looking at the 24" 6.5 Creed. For just over $1200 you get the rifle with full aluminum chassis stock (AR style), LUTHAR butt, 3 mags, 2 grips (straight and "AR"), brake, scope...
Very nice! One thing I like about doing a true build (as opposed to a purchased upper) is that I'd have more control of what quality barrel is used. But I've read good things about both the Aero and upper end Diamonback barrels as well. One silly question-is there a standard receiver vice and...
I'm thinking about a 6.5 Creedmore AR-10 to play with for longer ranges (just for something different than a bolt gun). I've been looking into the Diamondback DB10 (DB1060M061). Lots of nice features and components, and my local Buds has them for $1277...
For varmints, how about a .22 DTI (6.8 SPC necked down to .224)? http://www.predatormastersforums.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1854376 One of these days, when my bank account gets built back up, I want to do either a 6mm AR or 6mm AR Turbo 40. AR Performance has barrels for...
