I've been using Nosler and Norma brass for my 6.5 CM and 300 WM and both have been very good. Nosler is remarkably consistent. I understand that Norma might make Nosler's brass, but I don't know if that's true. I have noticed that packing for the 500 lot of Norma brass was poor so some...
I'm starting only my second load development and it's going pretty well. I seem to have two accuracy nodes at 41.5-43 grains and 36.5-38.5. Nosler brass and 210M primers. Is this fairly consistent with what others are seeing?
I use the same method to determine oal to touch the lands---in my .300 WM with a stiller tac action and a Lilja barrel, 3.662 oal gets me to touch the lands.
I'm curious as to how y'all develop loads using a magneto speed. I just bought one because of its simplicity to set up, but I realize that I can't chrono the loads as I shoot them for accuracy since the harmonics will be affected. I guess that means I shoot and then chrono the best...
I may be an idiot and am missing the obvious---but the shellholder jaws on my press won't automatically open or close---they stay closed. I can manually open them. I haven't tried it with a die yet as I just mounted the press yesterday. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks in advance.
A friend of mine lets me hunt for free on his ranch so I want to load some .270 ammo for him. I am not sure what powder to use as I don't shoot that cartridge. I've seen that the 4350s seem to do well as well as Re 22. I would rather not tap into my h-4350 because it's so hard to replace...
I've had an order in to Midway for over four months. My .300 win mag hated the factory Nosler 190 gr. LR, but I'll load the 210s myself. Not sure why the factory 190s are seated so deeply.
I appreciate it. Found 5 pound containers at Sportsman's Warehouse for 109. Of course, shipping and hazmat put the total near 30 bucks per container, but I should be good for a while. That was the best price I've seen for it. thanks for all the help guys.
I have another novice question. The Forster press has a priming tool. Is there any problem with using that to prime the case rather than the hand-held priming tools? It seems that the tool on the press is awfully precise, but I am new to reloading. Thanks for the help!
I'm probably an idiot, but I am starting out and thought that I would try to buy equipment that I would never have to replace if I liked the hobby---also thinking that I could sell that type of quality for a good price if I didn't enjoy reloading. Forster press and redding competition dies...
